Your best feature and your worst complaint might be the same thing
We were picking a CRM for the studio, and I went down a hole. Ended up reading about 180 reviews of the best-funded tool in the category. $116M raised, most of it this year. G2, Capterra, Trustpilot, the app stores, a pile of Reddit threads.
I expected the complaints to be about missing features. Nope.
Most praised thing: ease of use. Clean, fast, lovely to work in. People meant it.
Most complained about thing: setup.
Same product. Both true. I recounted because I assumed I'd messed up the tally.
Then this one landed:
"Three months and we still hadn't built our lists."
The product is a joy once you've decided what goes in it. All the pain sits before that, and it lands inside a 14-day trial. So it was never a usability problem. Time to value and trial length just don't match.
We see the same split on client work. The demo looks great, onboarding tests fine, and people still leave somewhere around minute 3. We've treated that as a UX problem for years. Watching it turn up as a pricing and trial-length problem instead has been uncomfortable.
So what's yours? The thing people compliment and complain about in the same breath. I'd bet more of you have one than you think you do.
