Don't you think Product Hunt discussions have become as cold as ice lately?
Or maybe I just don t get which topics work best for my discussion themes?
Last summer/autumn, discussions seemed to get more replies and upvotes people felt more cozy and engaged back then in comments.

I use AI every day as a Product and UX/UI Designer, and it saves me hours every week. But sometimes I spend 20 minutes trying to get AI to do something I could finish manually in 5. I am sure every profession has tasks like this.

What is that one task in your workflow where AI is still slower than doing it yourself?

I'm seeing a growing trend of B2C products actively advertising their AI features as a USP, claiming AI being the prime solution.

However, being back in my hometown for a weekend, I've heard a lot of apprehension around data privacy and a general lack of understanding "what happens in that blackbox". Nothing I hear very often back in Berlin, so demographic differences are clearly playing a big role in user receptiveness.

Transparency is crucial, no doubt. Advertising AI on platforms like producthunt or in decks for investors makes a lot of sense - that's the right audience.
But are we far enough along the AI adoption curve for "AI-powered" to be a major selling point on the customer-facing side? Or are we scaring off potential users with concerns about data usage and complexity?

I have come along a lot of examples where web apps require login and use server-side rendering.

I get that it s better for SEO, but how would that apply if the app is login protected (different story for a marketing website)?

After seeing yesterday s Instagram post by Morning Brew, I ve decided to change the questions.

According to the post, even a major player like Duolingo is looking to replace contractors and employees with AI.

Recently I've been finding myself actually buying and downloading apps more than before. The common thread? They're all silly things that almost do nothing.
I say almost because what they do offer is a bit of joy during my work day. Some of the recent apps I've purchased or downloaded are @Klack, Googly Eyes, @Docko, @Ball,@TabTab, and @NotchNook.
Some of these do have productivity or quality of life improvements (looking at the last two) but others are simply about making the computer fun again.
For example @Klack has genuinely made me more focused when I type and I've been able to zone in on work. It's like each clickity-clack is driving me closer to where I want to go and idk, the feedback just feels GOOD. The audio is also really nice, not sure how I can explain it, but feels very high-def for something that is mimicking a tactical feeling.
All these apps remind me of a time where shareware and P2P ( @Limewire ) was more popular. Where you might be okay buying a CD or floppy and installing something fun on your computer, then telling (sharing) your buddy about it. And with the rise of vibe coding, I think we're going to see vibeware become a thing. Where users will create something fun, quickly, using AI tools like @Cursor, @Replit, or @bolt.new/@Lovable and then put it at a super low cost or have a free-trial (shareware).
Those that don't want to pay, will create their own iteration of it and choose their own distribution method (P2P) but it won't eat at the original.
It's my genuine feeling that the internet is about to become fun again (it's already started) and I'm curious if I'm the only one feeling this way and/or embracing it?
What do you think? Is the era of vibeware a good thing? And if not why should we refute it?

WhatsApp is posting numbers that no other app comes close to. It leads the world in addictiveness at 87% DAU/MAU and stickiness at 86% month-one retention, all while having 2.7B monthly users, the most of any non-preinstalled app.

A new Sensor Tower breakdown of the top 25 apps by these metrics reveals some surprising patterns. There are now 15 apps with over a billion users, and Google and Meta own 12 of them between them.
