Remember when products designed for consumers unexpectedly revolutionized how businesses operate? For example, Discord started as a chat app for gamers but is now essential for remote teams.
Its journey from gaming-focused platform to business tool is fascinating:
Originally built for gamers needing low-latency communication
Features like server organization, voice channels, and role permissions were perfect for gaming
Discord thrived during the pandemic as businesses discovered its community-building strengths worked brilliantly for remote collaboration
Now powers everything from customer communities to virtual events
I keep finding new AI tools on Product Hunt that look useful but after trying a few I usually end up going back to the same 2 3 tools I already use. I m curious if other people have the same experience. Are there any AI tools you discovered here that actually became part of your regular workflow and what do you use them for?
Hey PH community! In two weeks, I m launching my app, SUN, here on Product Hunt. It s been a journey, and I m now focused on how to get meaningful visibility and upvotes. I ve been digging into what others have done and came across these 5 common strategies:
DM outreach on LinkedIn
Joining Product Hunt-focused WhatsApp groups
Engaging in Facebook groups for PH launches
Running social media ads that link directly to the PH page
Buying Product Hunt ads (starting at $5,000 )
Has anyone here tried any of these?
What worked? What felt like a waste of time or money?
One thing that kept coming up in a recent discussion:
Live chat can make it easier for visitors to ask a quick question but it can also create an expectation that someone is available right now.
For a small B2B team, that can backfire.
A visitor sees a chat widget, sends a message, waits a few hours, and starts to assume nobody is home. In that case, the real-time interface may feel worse than a clear async path.
On 11 July I fixed a title bug on /blog/category/[slug]. The old code read posts[0].categories[0].title, which is the first category of the first post, not the category being browsed. Posts belong to more than one category, so the hubs were printing each other's names. The fix was to match the browsed slug instead.
/blog/tag/[slug] was copied from that file. It still runs posts[0].categories[0].title today, 52 days later.
Been thinking about this since Llama 4 Scout is quietly running Meta AI across WhatsApp, Instagram, and Messenger, which is a genuinely massive footprint, arguably bigger reach than ChatGPT in a lot of markets outside the US. And yet almost nobody in the AI-visibility/GEO conversation talks about it. Every "which LLMs should I track" list defaults straight to ChatGPT, Gemini, Perplexity, Claude.
Makes sense in one way. Scout's a smaller, more efficient model (10M token context, MoE architecture) built for scale and cost, not for being anyone's primary "ask it everything" assistant the way ChatGPT is. But the distribution is the part that's hard to ignore: it's sitting inside apps billions of people already have open every day, recommending things in casual chat context rather than a dedicated search box.
Genuinely curious, for anyone building or using AI-visibility tools, does Meta AI even show up in what you're measuring? Is it worth the effort to track, or is the actual query volume for anything commercial/brand-related just too low to matter yet compared to the "real" search-intent surfaces?
"I was frustrated by x, so i built y" is basically every launch post here. Doesn't tell me anything about whether the product's actually good.
What i actually look at now: The changelog. How fast something's shipping, what they're fixing, whether they're responding to their own users publicly. That tells you more about whether a team can execute than any origin story ever will.
Anyone can have a relatable problem. not everyone can consistently ship the fix.
I ve seen so much advice about partnering with well-known Hunters for your PH launch. But does it really move the needle? Anyone have real numbers or war stories? Also, how to find and approach them?
