Is Product Hunt a good place to post an open-source software launch?

Hi, I'm working on an open-source project for mobile developers and I'm curious: is Product Hunt a good place to launch?

We've met several folks who are only interested in commercial apps, so I have no idea where to introduce our open-source product to the public.

I'm specifically looking for people who are building mobile apps and want to boost their user engagement.

Thanks in advance.

What kind of transport do you use to get to your place of work?

Subway, bus, taxi, personal car, bicycle, electric scooter?

What size of checks — at a minimum — does an Angel have to write to be impactful…?

I know that many of us are working on side projects but I also see a lot of folks building full fledged companies. And a number of those companies are likely going after venture capital. If you're considering or actively pursuing Angel funding, I'm really curious as to how much capital a single Angel needs to provide in order to have a definitive and beneficial impact on the trajectory of your company. Thanks in advance for your insight and thoughts!

Summer is over. What business highlights have you had?

Despite the quiet season typical for summer, I do believe you experienced some business highlights.

(Product Hunt was full of launches, which surprised me in a good way.)

Do VCs or investors investigate what projects they invest money in? (Related to the latest faux pas)

Most startups that VCs invest in do not survive or succeed as originally planned.

According to statistics, only 1  2 out of 10 VC-backed startups end up as a major success or unicorn.

What's one small takeaway (from building, marketing, etc.) that turned into a big insight?

For me, it was a very simple, yet really insightful thing: enhance what's already working.

We're running a community forum, and our "Changelog" and "Ask the Community" categories performed really well. But after we featured them on the forum's homepage and applied some changes to improve usability, the engagement boosted significantly.

Which technological change in 2025 brought the biggest outcome to your business?

I think the biggest AI boom was in 2023-2024, but only now have I noticed improvements that have positively helped many businesses.

If I had to name three things that have had a very positive impact on business, they are:

  • Improved image creation using GPT Chat

  • Realistic videos through AI, where costs are reduced by hundreds, sometimes thousands of dollars (production video agency vs. a few custom prompts)

  • "vibe coding" tools that show me a visual and I can reverse query and learn why the code is written in such a way that I got a certain result.

Do you have a source of information/medium you trust? Which one? (not only for tech info)

Now I don't just mean tech, but general news as well.

A lot of people rely on X as a news source, but increasingly on TikTok. I don't think social media is the most trustworthy source of information.
