Love your Product, but how do you differentiate from Discord ?
@im_ayushtiwari Thanks for this question! Because Discord is built for gamers and Geneva is purpose-built for social groups there are a few core differences about the platforms...While Discord encourages pseudonyms / anonymity, on Geneva we are all about real identities because we believe it fosters better conversation and prevents trolling, abuse, and bad actors. Discord was built for gamers, and for gamers, chats are ephemeral. We know social groups and communities tend to have more structured conversations, so we built two features to help you keep conversations organized: Threaded replies in chat rooms (like Slack) to keep message threads organized and Post rooms to add even more structure to asynchronous discussions and content-sharing (similar to a hybrid of Reddit and Facebook Groups-style posts). Finally, we're hard at work building a lot more tools that help you bring your people together in a way that mirrors how groups bring people together IRL. Last but not least, we've heard from a bunch of people who've used both that Geneva just feels a bit simpler and more intuitive to navigate! Hope this answers it.🌼

The best parts of all social media may have been implemented but they most certainly did not forget to add the fun. And that's the best thing about the app!
Hey @david_bensadon - great question! While we don't offer the ability to use Geneva to create an entirely custom-branded mobile app, one of our major areas of focus over this next year is giving group leaders like you all kinds of tools to customize your space on Geneva and make it feel like your own. Keep an eye out! 👀
Thanks @brandmast3r! There are a bunch of differences already, and you'll see us continue to move in different directions over time too. While Slack was created for corporate workplace communication and discord for gamers, we designed Geneva from the ground up for social groups, clubs, and communities. Unlike Slack which charges a monthly fee per user (or offers free version with limits on functionality and message history), Geneva is totally free to use. The other big difference is that on Geneva, there are 5 different ways that people in groups can interact: synchronous chat, asynchronous posts, group voice/audio, group video hangouts, and audio/video broadcasts (which are like an instagram Live and/or "clubhouse with video"). Slack is only real-time chat and Discord only chat + voice/video and voice broadcasts. And last but not least, Geneva has a bunch of built-in tools that help groups stay tight-knit and vibrant: 'new member surveys' are like a built in typeform that lets leaders gather info about new potential members, roles & permissions let you control who can do what in your space, and Geneva's built-in events calendar makes it really easy for groups to plan virtual and IRL events together!
Looks like your app is a little bit broken Monday 20210524 3:32pm PST ??
user profile not updating? … you prolly know already, but heads up. 😃
@justinhauser
