Let me share two stories. First, people buy DNA test kits for curiosity to know more about themselves. When we started Genomelink, many existing DNA test kit users downloaded and uploaded their raw DNA data files to sites like GEDmatch and Promethease to get more ancestry and health analyses. But they were struggling with interpreting that analysis because the sites were too technical and not user-friendly. Secondly, I was trying to promote breast cancer genetic testing to Japanese doctors for my previous work in Japan. I found that cancer families were paying almost $2000 for those tests, obviously not accessible. They pay $2000 and receive if they have a higher risk or not, and that is it. That should be very impactful, but it was tough to convince people to purchase those tests at that pricing just for the one application. So, I started wondering, "can we let people have their own DNA data like they own iPhone and build an app ecosystem where they can keep reusing the same DNA data for varieties of apps from ancestry-like fun analysis to serious medical tests?" That can help people to get out the most from taking a DNA test and increase accessibility for all types of application. We believe in the future, where billions of people will have access to their DNA data. Great product. Very useful way to find and purchase new interesting DNA reports. I uploaded my data from 23andme which was a simple process, and Genomelink makes it easy to find and purchase additional insights from their partners.
