Great stuff! I'm a relatively new user but very well impressed, I only wish there was a way I could help...?

I was excited to see the $9 starter plan. But I take issue with one part, which is not allowing custom themes. I don't understand why this was left out of the plan considering there's no downside for Ghost, I'm parting with more of my money. My next best bet would be using the $29 plan which is a massive hike up just for the pleasure of using a template you've bought from the store. I urge you to reconsider adding this feature to the starter plan, because as it stands it prices me out of starting a blog with you.
@adam_snook we don’t support custom themes and integrations on a $9 plan because it’s an incredible amount of work to support third party code which is not written by our team, and our support team is 2 people. Yet still we give away 100% of our code as open source, which you can self host in perpetuity for as little as $5 a month - something which isn’t even possible with any closed, centralised platform out there.
Are you seriously leaving a negative review and making demands on the basis that any of that is unreasonable?

@adam_snook@johnonolan I understand where Adam is coming from. I too would like the option to use a custom theme with any of the plans. I think it would convert a broader "tech savvy" audience doing work for clients with smaller budgets whereof not having to set everything up from scratch on a VPS such as Digital Ocean.
@johnonolan — this looks awesome. Been wanting to try Ghost, but I can't access the Ghost website at all because it blocks VPNs. Why is this, and is there any way to access it without a VPN? Can't image I'm the only one in the VPN boat unable to access Ghost. 🙁
@hiramfromthechi we regularly block IPs that we get abusive, automated/spam traffic from. Dont really care what else they get used for, more concerned about keeping our network online :)
Figured, but so far that seems it’s pretty much all VPNs (tried a few) :/

Is there an easy way to opt out of the member options? I have a small personal blog and I'm not looking for membership.

Love this! Very excited.
Question: if someone signs up for my list via ghost natively - do the free signups count as a "member" or just the paid ones?
Running free content at first but it'll be hard if limited to 1k signups on most tiers.
Any thoughts?
Thanks guys!
I'm so tired of wordpress I just want to move away from it.
Ghost has been the closest alternative I have found so far, and it's looking really attractive so keep up the great work! but without the possibility to create custom fields for posts I can't migrate :(
A more minor issue is that I couldn't manage to find any way to easily integrate filters/facets for searching and filtering Ghost posts, all ghost blogs I find you're just supposed to scroll down till you find a post, which seems to work if your blog doesn't have evergreen content or if you only post sporadically
