Its too close to what we are doing with http://yuppi.co (Personal Groups Spaces) in fact we introduced the new concept one day before this came out lol !
It seems promising, looking forward to be what can be done there. Although you could put a "Notify me when it's live" sort of button, I don't want to be checking that landing hoping to catch the actual release.

What, no google rep here? How astonishing.

My experience tells me there's a huge need for something that combines messaging (the "what's happening now") with curation (the "here's the stuff that matters most"), specifically for communities of interest. Say we're a group of folks with a shared interest – right now, the stuff that matters to us is spread across the web and social media. It looks like Google's making it easy to bring people and resources together, which is a precursor to then taking action. I think tools that offer more structure as we interact around our shared interests have the potential to move us beyond "social networking" towards "collaborative networking". Glad to see Google continuing to experiment and innovate in this space. Note: I still haven't actually played with the product as of this writing.
@davenotik Agree on the importance of brining what actually matters to the front. But also, this already exists inside high trust (or highly moderated) groups. I'm a member of a couple fb groups, and there is virtually zero irrelevant crap/spam that you see on twitter or really other public place.

This looks cool. If they integrate google docs/sheets it would be great for school projects. I know we used FB groups and docs and integration would have added a lot.
