Congratulations on the launch, guys! Curious to learn more about your collaboration model with app developers, is it more profitable for them than in regular stores?

@shambalyov Hello Artem and thank you for your support!
We employ a revenue distribution model based on app usage and market price. Here's how it works:
When users make payments, the money is divided into three portions:
1. 70% goes back to developers each month according to their app's usage. We consider an app "used" if it gets launched at least once by a user within that month.
2. 20% is paid as an affiliate fee to developers who lead users to Setapp; this means they receive 20% of the user's payment for the entire duration of that user's subscription with Setapp.
3. 10% is retained as Setapp's commission.
Here’s an example for clarity: If a user subscribes to our $9.99 plan and uses only one app in a given month, the developer of that app would earn $6.99 from that user for the month. If multiple apps are used, then $6.99 will be divided among those developers based on both usage frequency and market price multipliers assigned to ensure fair distribution.
You can find out more about our revenue distribution model here: https://docs.setapp.com/docs/dis...
Setapp proves particularly beneficial for apps traditionally sold via one-time purchases by facilitating easy transitions into recurring revenue models through subscriptions.
For subscription-based apps, although monthly ARPU might initially seem lower compared to other platforms like App Store, our users tend to have high LTVs This makes long-term gains more substantial when using Setapp compared with traditional sales channels.
Additionally, we cover all marketing expenses related costs so developers don’t need worry about acquiring new users themselves.
Lastly, there are no exclusivity requirements with Setapp—developers can use us as an additional distribution channel alongside App Store listings or linking out for iOS apps or MAS and/or direct site sales for Mac apps.
I think it worth pointing out that although Setapp Mobile will (for now) only be available to iOS users in the EU, it can include apps from developers based anywhere in the world. As the Australian developer of Sun Seeker iOS app I am thrilled to have it included in Setapp Mobile's initial offering.
Congrats, the MacPaw team ... and lucky EU users!
Why not create a directory-like US version of Setapp Mobile? Essentially, a Setapp desktop app but for iOS.
It would have the same UI, but instead of downloading, it would link to the product's App Store listing. You already have a Mac + iOS plan (which I'm happily subscribed to, by the way) for all users, including the US ones.
I think it would be a no-brainer and satisfy the US user base. Granted, I might be a little biased toward app directories since I'm launching one myself soon )
