šŸ‘‹šŸ˜ø Helloooooo again Product Hunt! Ankith here, Co-founder & CEO of Macro. We launched the first version of Macro on Product Hunt just over a year ago as a proof-of-concept for a 3rd party Zoom client. And we learned a LOT since then. Over the last year, we took the product back into beta and learned from over 200,000 meetings and 2500+ teams that had been testing Macro. We focused on two main areas: šŸ› ļø Reliability and performance improvements šŸ” Narrowing our purpose Stability and resource consumption issues made up 85% of the early feedback. And talking with those early Macro users helped us realize that what made Macro really valuable wasn't the note taking and the slight productivity bump in the meeting. It was how it made them *feel* during the meeting. Macro made meetings more lightweight and fun, which in turn made people feel more comfortable and able to naturally express themselves over video. They felt in control and that Macro adapted to them. We're incredibly excited to be unveiling a brand new Macro today, with a renewed focus: Bring Your Full Self. Macro is a Zoom client built for self-expression. You can join any Zoom meeting with Macro, even if everyone else is on Zoom. We're making meeting software a personal choice. Today's release of Macro comes with: šŸŽØ A brand focused on human creativity, with an emphasis on rawness and authenticity šŸ•¹ļø Canvas - a fluid meeting experience with pinch to zoom, panning, and drag and drop šŸ”Š Airtime - subtle awarness of speaking amounts to make the conversation more inclusive šŸ‘©ā€šŸŽ¤ Expression dock - play around with quirky shapes, filters, and reactions šŸ¤ Expression platform - collabs with artists on reaction packs and themes dropped in-app šŸ Floating view - the most lightweight meeting UI that just gets out of the way 🚪 Rooms - one click drop in audio and video rooms for spontanous chats with your team And even more tidbits you'll discover as you start playing around. We strongly believe that the future of software is more personalized experiences and we couldn't be more thrilled to show you the potential of personalization with Macro's launch today. Macro is free for all and available on macOS for download today! https://macro.io We'd love to hear what you think and how we can make Macro even better. Thanks for reading! āœŒļø

I've been following the Macro team since their first launch, and since the moment I saw the 'airtime' feature I knew I had to try it. We've been using it on our team ever since, and I love how it makes the formal feel of virtual meetings more human, inclusive and fun. I mean, the real world is not a neat little grid of faces! Macro brings so much more expressivity and ease of collaboration. Excited to support them in the launch today! (full disclosure I am a tiny tiny investor).

After a few months of use I can honestly say it's the best upgrade to your video conferencing life. It's perfect for small meetings, when you need "floating heads" over Figma. It makes everything feel a little more natural and engaging, less formal and better for creative work. The Ramps design team uses Macro almost exclusively for creative Jams and Crits. I cannot recommend it enough.

I've been using it for some time now and I love it. Especially the real-time airtime allowing to share the opinions more equally. Congrats šŸ‘

@etidar Thanks Etienne! Grateful for your support šŸ™

there are some things that redefine your relationship to everything else. meetings are too often a necessary evil and it's easy to get lost in an endless fog of zoom calls. macro brings people back to the forefront and pushes ceremony to the side. it's not a turnkey solution to revolutionize meetings or change the world or upend industries. i feel like this tool is at its best when we change one hour of your life and by giving you tools to see other people and be seen in a different way. (i'm an engineer with these folks; sorry not sorry. but to be fair i'm like one wrong emoji away from being fired)

?makers Congratulations on the launch! @calum showed us the first glimpse of Macro in one of the Donut meetings with my colleague @lanre_akinyemi and we loved it :) Curious to know what's next after Zoom, Google Meet?
Ankith Harathi
@calum @lanre_akinyemi @adityavsc Thanks so much Aditya! Having @calum helping us out has been a game changer... glad you guys liked it! That was actually the intention behind our name - a meta layer across all the tools you use to communicate and collaborate. Still lots more to do on Zoom in the short term!
