Thanks for hunting us @chrismessina and hello PH peoples!
With myriads of misinformation and fad diets, knowing what to eat and staying on track with your nutrition and diet can be very challenging and time consuming.
My name is Simone Zienna, and I am the founder of Meta Nutrition. As a certified personal trainer and a nutritionist I wanted to set out and build and app that handles the complexities of providing people meal plans that fit their goals and are aligned with their dietary preferences.
We can’t wait for you to try it and look forward to hearing your thoughts and questions!

Very interesting. Something to note is that I am 6'0" but the UI wouldn't let me submit with 0 in the inches column. It also allowed me to be 5'23", and 6'(-12)"!
Looks great. I absolutely hate vegetables, which of course is the only thing you can eat to lose weight! Is there a way to tell the plan generator to skip certain foods?
@sparkyuk11 Thank you! You hate veggies? oh no! Right now we are working on implementing restrictions so you can do exactly that. We previously had it in our signup form but need more time to test it out and make sure it functions as intended.

@sparkyuk11 a comment on "...vegetables, which of course is the only thing you can eat to lose weight"
Um, that's not actually true. You can eat anything and lose weight as long as you consume less energy than you use ^-^ You could technically lose weight by only eating ice cream as long as you follow that rule. Of course it would cause all sorts of problems for your body but you would lose weight.

@anna_0x I know, I was being silly :) However, I feel it only correct that I try your Ice cream suggestion in the name of fact checking....

I think it is kind of broken. On a "balanced plan" I am getting a breakfast of 10k Kcal even though my total for the entire day is 3.4k Kcal
@jeroendeprest The algorithm is always improving and we try to generate more and more accurate meal plans. Even if the nutrients are off you can still easily customize the plan and add your custom foods to reach your nutrition targets!
@jeroendeprest Hi Jeroen, our algorithm got much better and I'm sure it will cover your needs perfectly! If you wanna give it a second chance, we'll offer you a whole free month free for the PRO version :)

So what does the platform eat?

@qhameem People's precious time. I am just kidding. The tagline should be changed though
I really liked the onboarding/profile making procedure!
The layout it's a little bit confusing once the mealplan is created and adding new foods it's not possible.. maybe something to work on? and congrats on the launch.
@gaialiciabalossi Thank you for the feedback! Which part of the layout did you find confusing?
You can add foods from the 'Explore foods tab' or create custom foods. Then you'll be able to add them to your meal plan. But I can see why that's not intuitive! Will make it more user friendly :)

I have to say that I've seen this 100 times before. Nothing special here. It did absolutely hijack my browser. Trying to add a food to a meal shot CPU usage and memory on chrome to 100. I'm still waiting for it to totally recover.
Maybe get JS off the client-side. Wappalyzer suggests this is using React/Next but certainly not properly.
It crashed when I tried to delete the account. That tab alone was using over 4GB of RAM.
@eglove Sorry you had a bad experience with it. We will look into these issues and fix them asap!

@simonemeta Calorie and nutrition trackers I think are one of the hardest problems to tackle. Because A) Calories are an outdated measurement, those numbers come from setting food on fire and seeing how hot it burns. B) There is no universal number to watch. And C) The way the FDA categorizes nutrition is inconsistent. Why is isomaltulose considered a sugar and allulose a carb? Both could be in either category. Both are perfectly healthy and hard to put into a group with unhealthy sugars and carbs...
At the end of the day I think simple trackers like this don't do anything more than a food journal. Writing down what you eat and noting whether you think it's "healthy" or "unhealthy" is just as effective.
If I were building this, I wouldn't show any numbers and focus on the diets.
Anyway, separate your components out (Stripe is loading on the profile creation page? Why?) and move JS to server-side. Fixing performance problems will help you out a lot.
@eglove I agree that calories and nutrition estimates for pretty much any label or foods are not accurate; however, just by having a metric to monitor people become way more aware of what and how they eat which eventually leads them to make healthier dietary decisions.
We tackle the simple tracker problem by generating actual custom diet plans for the users. That's our distinguishing factor. Other apps make you do a ton of work tracking foods but don't provide any suggestion for how or what you should eat. We constantly speak with dietitians and consult research studies to provide very tailored nutritional advice.
The automated tracker is just a plus!
For the performance issues, we are constantly improving and making the platform faster and lighter for the user. We just switched to NextJS to improve speed, but there is still much work to do :)
