What’s on your daily checklist (outside of work)?
We’re usually very good at creating to-do lists for work.
But what about everything outside of work?
I’ve started turning my personal habits into a checklist to build discipline and make these habits non-negotiable over time.
Here’s mine:
15 minutes of meditation
Read at least 10 pages of a book
Read one English article (any topic)
Take notes on new vocabulary from that article
Go for a run or work out
Learn knitting
Practice writing Python
I can't do all of these every day although I really want. However my time budge has limits.
Instead, I pick what fits my schedule that day. If I’ve done some today, I’ll prioritize the others tomorrow.
For me, the most important part is consistency just keeping these habits alive over time.
What about you?
Do you have a daily (non-work) checklist or personal habits you try to maintain? 👀✨

Practice writing Python – is it going well? I tried so many times, I failed so many times :DDDD
When it comes to me:
I exercise every single day
Read a book in the morning (at least one chapter)
Try learning foreign languages
Have a brisk walks :)

@busmark_w_nika I'm still learning. This is the website that I'm learning you can try, it is really hard for non-tech like us, but take it slow.

In the beginning of working day I usually plan my day in simple old-school notebook :)
and.. it actually works super great for me! it's like task tracker that always open on second screen
I don't do checklists. I prefer a chaotic approach. This helps you quickly adapt to rapidly changing conditions and be more flexible.

@narek_meliksetyan It's also an approach. For me I need a checklist to know what I need to do today
@monatruong_murror I have it for month or a maybe week but it's almost impossible to keep an accurate checklist for a day. For me order works on large numbers, and on a small interval - the ability to adapt to chaos.
Murror
@narek_meliksetyan I think everyone has their own suitable way of working. As you said, that’s the flexibility in our schedule.
Love this — I started doing the same and realized small non-work habits compound way more than big occasional goals; even 10–15 minutes daily changes mindset over time.
I have a Trello board to track my personal life related tasks and get them done 😂 If not, it's easy to get lost in work.
Workout, hobbies (like chess, dance, music) and playing with my kid are my daily must-haves.

@alina_petrova3 Oh you must be very busy. I admire when you can complete it every single day.
this winter I am doing my winterarc challenge with a bunch of friends. actually, that's such a great decision we've made and I feel like I am becoming a better person. one feature we've agreed on is having your own personal list of rules. so in my list apart from work there's:
- exercising 4 times/week (and recently Ive decided to make exercising a daily habit)
- reading, doesn't matter how many pages.
- practicing in sound production and music creation
- having digital detox sundays. that's the best habit EVER and I'm very happy when I actually can do this

When I started counting my steps, I was shocked to see my count was as low as 50 per day. I try to volunteer for as much walking and moving around as I can because I work from home and do all my work on the computer. So if cups/plates need to be taken to the kitchen, or stuff needs to posted, or something needs to be done that involves walking, I always try to remember to volunteer so I can get my steps in.

@robnewport If you sitting too long it will affect on your spine and legs. Try to walking at least 30 minutes each day to keep your mind a little time to rest, allow your body to function instead of sitting at work.
@monatruong_murror great advice! Thank you.

@robnewport you're welcome, Robert.
Hi Mona, absolutely. And for me its not just personal habits I want to build on, but also other tasks apart from work that I try to maintain checklists and reminders for. However, despite maintaining checklists and reminders I find myself ignoring them from time to time, mostly due to procrastination. 😅 And this especially happens with the reminders I set for myself like pay these bills early but I just end up ignoring or clearing the reminders and then complete those tasks at the last moment, which is very frustrating haha.
