Excellent - so happy this is finally out there. I was about ready to get a Nest for baby #2. What is up with monitor designers putting in the 2 way radio, flashing lights and other nonsense. Thank you for eliminating that crap! Are there more of your beta testers on here ready to give feedback to potential purchasers? I'll be getting it anyway because if it's even 50% as good as you say it is it beats the regular monitors hands down. But... argh, when will you be available in Canada. We're just around the corner...
Andy Berman
@gordonwcasey We have a few beta testers lurking around product hunt. Canada should be one of the easier ones to be available in. Fill out a support ticket on https://support.nanit.com/hc/en-us and say escalate to Andrew Berman. I'll make sure to contact you about Canada.

Didn't see this in the FAQ's, but on the pricing it says, "12 months of Nanit Insights" for the middle plan. What happens after the 12 months? Only reason I am confused: It's an upfront, one time cost to purchase cam but there is no info on what happens after those 12 months. Is there a monthly cost associated or do you have to do the $459 plan to get the insights ongoing? The only tip I'd have on the pricing page: have help "?" icons next to Sleep Tracking and Video Users so we can understand what the difference in pricing really is. Also, put pricing FAQ's below for objection handling:)

@taylorbarr Hey Taylor, thanks for the question. The current pricing on Nanit Insights represents a 50% discount on our full price. After the 12 months is up, Nanit Insights is available for $10/month or $100/year, and Nanit Insights Unlimited is available for $30/month or $300/year. Regarding the tooltip and FAQ ideas, thanks for the suggestions! We definitely will take this into account as a potential solution for clarifying our pricing.

Funny: in catalan we say "Bona Nit" = "Sleep Well", often used as "nanit"! Looks cool but seems a bit expensive though ;) I use a philips monitor and we are really happy with it was $100, of course you do not get all those stats...
Andy Berman
@deambulando With Nanit you get a few more things than just the analytics. You're getting a stand (one of the biggest problems we've found through design research), our smart illumination feature (nightlight) and our white noise feature. Thus, while yes, we are more expensive, you're really getting a lot more product for the money (things that most parents buy).

Any way to get one August 1? That's when our little one is coming. :)
Andy Berman
@chiphanna We're trying our best, however, we're shipping September right now.

Any thoughts to a dedicated hardware monitor? My wife and I originally tried a nest cam with our daughter, but the app crashed over night and we didn't hear her crying for over an hour one night. The next day we returned the nest cam.
Andy Berman
@evancmorris We've thought about that use case. However, currently, we're focused on shipping our first product. We hope that with Nanit's features you won't have to be constantly watching the live video stream, thus eliminating the need for the dedicated monitor.

Parenting is a very personal thing. Having raised 3 babies without any tech support (and in the 2000's, no less) I feel I would not be in the market for this. Yet I can understand how reassuring it can be for anxious parents - borderlining control freaks, maybe. Upvoted as the design looks great.
Andy Berman
@degrems Thanks for the upvote. We totally agree with you, parenting is a very personal thing and everyone's style is different. I appreciate the comments on design, we've put a lot of effort in creating the perfectly designed product.

We use a Nest and not sure there's much else here that would lead me to switch (i.e. not 10x better). That said, if I were making the initial decision this has some nice features (white noise, and a better summary vs. Nest). The one thing that bugs me with Nest is ability to share access with nanny, parents when they visit, etc... If this enables easy (and limited) access control that would be a winner - note that Nest says they are but given the turmoil over there who knows
Tor
@pjbeans79 At Nanit we are allowing access management to additional users and allow you to set the level of permissions you give those users (parent will typically get permission to everything while Nanny only some of the features). We also allow team collaboration around events that happened to your baby where every user can add comments, this promotes collaboration between parents or nanny.

Parents throughout the world rejoice... when are you guys coming out with Rosie the robot?
