@orliesaurus Hi, thanks for the great question! See my response to a similar question above. Also, we share our details on our technical security approach and durability at https://notion.ai/trust under Security as well. We aim to be best in class in this area... Feedback welcome!
@guysuter I've read it over a few times. You say that the emails stored are "mine" legally. Does it mean you don't have access to them and that you encrypt them on the client side so that you will never read what I write about idk, "about last night"
@orliesaurus Notion is a cloud service, not a client-side only app. Email content hits our intelligence layer (software in the cloud) so the AI can do things like detect connection strength, analyze reply intent, and measure responsiveness to power features like Radar, smart notifications, our upcoming Alexa skill, etc. Many things wouldn't be possible with a client-side only approach.
The most pertinent part of our Privacy Policy on this topic is in the "Collection, Storage and Use of Private Email Messages" section. We aim to store as little data as practical to deliver features. Specific examples of that are there too.
You can also see open content at blog.notion.ai regarding our approach/actions regarding trustworthiness and privacy concerns. Our commitment is to be tremendously transparent and thoughtful on this subject so people can make their own well informed decisions.
You can remove all data Notion stores at anytime from within Settings in the Notion app. Your email content is stored locally on your device, as well, and it can be removed at anytime by deleting the Notion app.
@andrewwarner Great question! We operate with "tremendous transparency" on this point. Notion is a cloud intelligence service. It's the best way to provide some of the experiences we envision. We very carefully consider what information is stored and why. Full details here: https://notion.ai/trust
This is one of the industry topics I am personally most passionate about. Check out some our discussion about trust and privacy on our blog...

Your product images and content looks sexy, but I honestly have no idea what you do.
@mrabramowitz Well, today we're launch the Notion app for email on iOS and Android. It's designed to solve email overload and give you insight into your personal email network. Hopefully it makes email less stressful to manage and more productive.
We use a lot of A.I. to learn from your email and behavior to help you out. When you ask a person a question, for example, we can tell you — based on past history — the time you can most likely expect a response.
We also learn who are the most important contacts you have based on whether you tend to read their email, respond to them, or simply archive them without reading. Knowing this, we present important email as larger & brighter. All other email clients show email at the same level of importance, or they hide stuff from you. We take a different, and we think, better approach.
We also have developed an Alexa skill (pending approval process) that you can use with your email. It works independently from the mobile app. And it has some very striking features that are only made possible through the Notion AI.
@startablex Mailbox had an all-or-nothing multi-swipe when you got to the end of your messages, but not many people knew or used it. However, we are definitely the first to apply multi-swipe smartly to only affect less important emails.

Looks like a great email client. Really cool onboarding that made me think it is a smart service. Except that when I added a second account, the bottom bar used names from the first one 😄
I use Gmail labels and filters heavily, so I'm curious to see how Notion will handle that. Oh and accents are not managed properly, e.g. my contact "Léo" became "Lo".
Downloaded and been demoing it all day. I think some bundling would make things even faster, however the multiswipe is amazing. Will keep my eye on y'all 😜
@trgorczynski We don't have any official timeline just yet but we have been working hard on its development for a while. We hope to get an Alpha program up and running for testers early 2017. You can signup for updates on our Desktop progress at the bottom of this page: https://notion.ai/features
