This is great. Will it work for finding gluten? I have celiac :(
jose lara

@tylerw Hey one of our co-founders also avoids gluten.

Unfortunately, we don't have a gluten identification feature, it's actually quite a hard problem, because it isnt always clear what does and doesn't have gluten, However this seems like an important problem to solve.

Have you found a different app that could help you here?

Thats actually really helpful, may I know if if pom will translate the ingredients language when I scan a language other than english ?
jose lara

@ethan50 I believe it will translate it.

Congrats, a nice and practical use case! Do you consider it opening to other makets and languages too? I hope your tech can be used with different languages too. 🖖

When will it come to the UK?
luciana lara
@tony_crockford1 We will slowly roll out international releases to ensure compliancy. We hope to be available in the UK soon. Thank you for your interest we're working hard to make this app useful for everyone

Yuka already does this and serves my needs. how is this app different?
luciana lara
@dryhurst Good question, pom scans ingredient labels instead of bar codes so that the contents of the scanned products are always available and up to date. Our scoring system is also heavily based on research papers and individual ingredient flags :D If theres any features you'd like to see please let us know!
jose lara

@dryhurst Hey! we have a technically superior product, if you go on reddit you will find out people complain that scanning the same product give's different results, this is because they are working with products in their database instead of ingredients.

Due to that and other fundamental technology decisions they made, they have an impossible task of giving people accurate results.

pom has the right tech to truly offer people accurate results, and always have the capability of scan products even if its a new product nobody had ever seen.

Are you planning to release the app in the EU? I wonder if in the app, we can red flag ingredients too. Additionally is it meant only for products that are meant to be eaten? Example: Cereals, sauces, etc. Or can it be used also on beauty products, like shampoos, skin care, etc? I try to avoid buying products that have listed parfum/fragance in their ingredients, as in the US and in the EU it is known to be used by companies to hide chemicals, plastics, and other toxins that we use on a daily basis.

When will the app be available for iOS in the US? (Assuming that’s not already a thing based on the App Store error message I just got)
luciana lara

Congratz on the launch! The idea of the app is great and I'd really love to try it out, but unfortunately it says it's not available in my region (Ukraine). Is it possible to make the app available here? Would greatly appreciate it!
Kyle Kenyon

luciana lara
