Product Forums (p/) - community subreddits for every product

The Product Hunt community is the most curious, helpful, and supportive tech community on the internet. Now the conversation can continue after launch in dedicated sub-forums for every product (e.g. producthunt.com/p/windsurf).

When makers launch on Product Hunt, they rally a community for a single day of support, discussions, and feedback. But on Day 2, there isn't a way to continue that engagement until they launch again. Now every product gets its own forum - e.g. p/cursor - and the discussions can continue. It's a way for product geeks to talk about their favorite products, and for makers to get feedback and post updates. (and yes, we've used a p/ construction as a nod to Reddit) Product Hunt is a natural place to talk about products - you can @mention products, see their product hubs, and when people respond, you can see what they've built in their byline. Let us know what you think!

@mention @rajiv_ayyangar Love this update! How do you plan to keep these discussions active and engaging after the initial launch buzz fades?

@mention @cheyenne_edwards1 I'm open to suggestions! What do you think we should do as a community to build some buzz? We have a series of AMAs planned for the next couple weeks, which I'm very much looking forward to! The first one's coming up today - featuring serial founder @amir_ashkenazi from @Airtop - #1 yesterday!

@rajiv_ayyangar Congrats to Rajiv and the PH team! This is such an exciting and impactful update to Product Hunt! :) Many makers tend to leave the platform after their launch, but forums can give them a reason to stick around, engage with their supporters, users, and customers. Here are a few suggestions that could make forums even better: 1. Assign Moderators or Product Leaders: Each product forum could have assigned moderators or product leaders (either the makers or power users) to keep things active and engaging. 2. Search Functionality: Adding a search bar to forums would allow users to search threads using keywords, making it easier to find relevant discussions. 3. Highlight the Option to Start a Thread: On a product's page, it’s not immediately clear that users can post in that specific forum unless they click “Start New Thread” on the left sidebar. Moving this option below the product banner might make it more prominent. The buttons could then be: Visit Product, Follow, and Start a Thread. 4. Sort Options for Product Forums: By default, the displayed forums could be sorted with options like latest threads, most discussions, or most followed. 5. Better Thread Distinction: On topic forums, the design can feel a bit cluttered. Right now, thread titles and previews blend together unless you hover over them. Adding a simple line or divider between posts (like Reddit) could make it easier to scan. 6. Rich Text Formatting: Enabling rich text formatting for threads would be an awesome addition, making posts more engaging and visually appealing. 7. Notifications: If someone is following a product will they receive in-app or email notification for all the threads created under the product forum? 8. Currently we can only bookmark product launch posts, maybe adding threads and comment bookmarks would be useful too. Loving this update—can’t wait to dive into the forums and connect with others! :)

@rohanrecommends all good suggestions and either things we're building or things we're actively thinking about. Thanks, Rohan!

If you are a maker and have a wishlist for product forums, let us know in this thread. This is just the beginning of forums, and we would love to know what direction you want forums to go.

@mikekerzhner I'd really like to see a better search tool. I often bookmark the products I find most useful but there are times I remember a launch that could help a fellow business owner and have to sift through the broken search to try to find it. I love the changes being made here on other fronts.
Mike Kerzhner
@terrence_kelleman thanks for the feedback! Mind sharing a few searches queries that don't work well?

@mikekerzhner Just one item on my forums wishlist for now. Dialed in moderation controls. - Mods should control who can post in each forum based on account lifespan, account verification, streak, points(?) etc. The more controls the better, maketers tend to ruin everything. And oh, if anyone from the dev. team is reading. @ mentions in notifications on mobile are broken. anchor tags are displayed inline with text.
Mike Kerzhner
@izakotim solid feedback! The dev team is 100% listening. Mobile issue noted. For mod controls: something that you would want to moderate as the forum owner? Or something that product hunt should do internally?
Isaac Martin Otim
yes, preferably controlled by the forum owner, but most should be default ON upon forum creation. Catering to forum owners who aren't aware of the controls just yet. Same logic could be extended to regular launches and comments sitewide. You'd get a massive dip in engagement initially but it would be a long-term win. [can't seem to reply to you and tag you now, someone's cooking in production 😂😂]

Super cool to see this launch. I remember thinking this would be a great next step in Product Hunt discussions back in the day. Great to see it come to life!

I'm very stoked for this. I've often struggled to find a place to talk about the latest launches. Reddit is hit or miss, Twitter (X) is hard to keep track of, and my iMessage threads doesn't need stranger numbers...and don't get me started on Telegram. So when @rajiv_ayyangar shared his vision for Threads along with the team - I was IN. We now have a place where products can have their own moderated community, tech enthusiasts have a dedicated place to connect with other product nerds, and makers can reach out to get help. Stoked! Stay tuned for our first AMA later today!

@gabe 🙌 it's been a full-team effort and I've been stoked to see all the great ideas come to life! Excited for the AMAs!

I've talked to so many Makers over the years who have had incredible launch experiences on Product Hunt, but weren't sure where to go on Day 2. They want to have a way to keep their new audience up to date on changes that aren't full blown launches, follow up on the great feedback they got, and tap their new followers for feedback as they continue to build. Product Forums gives Makers the ability to do all of those things now. And from a user perspective, you now have a dedicated place to share thoughts or ask questions about every product that's launched on Product Hunt.

I'm super proud of this launch and everything the Product Hunt team has built here! If you have any feedback or thoughts, be sure to drop them here!

So excited for our team to share Product Hunt Forums with the world today 🎉 We now have a dedicated space for product nerds 🤓 to talk all things product!

Last year, we launched Shoutouts, giving you a dedicated place to showcase love 🧡 from the awesome products you power 💪🏽 (way to go social proof!). Now, with Forums, we’re taking it a step further.

Instead of navigating scattered threads across social media and the web, we’ve created a centralized hub for all your product discussions 💬. Product Hunt is no longer just where you launch - You can now engage with your community, understand what’s important to them, answer their questions, keep them up to date on what’s new 💡etc, right on your product hub (p/“yourproductname”)!

And for all the product nerds out there looking for the best tools for your needs—we get it. You’re tired of sifting through paid reviews and spammy affiliate links. That’s why Forums is the trusted, community-driven space where you can ask all type of Product questions and get answers and insights from real people - just like you! At a glance of each discussion thread, you can even see the credibility of each person on display 🧐 - if they’re verified, what products they’ve built, etc.

Jump in and ask the community your burning question - we’re excited to hear what you all think!

Super excited to see the subcommunities in each product forum start to take shape! There’s so much potential here, and the best part is the people—makers, hunters, and users—all coming together. Can’t wait to see the conversations, connections, and cool ideas that come out of this!

So excited for all the product discussions post-launch! We hear all the time about how launching is the biggest thing, and while it certainly is important; connecting with your user base and optimizing your product for them is incredibly valuable in the long run. In comes Forums 😎 Please share feedback! We’re all ears!
