🏋️♀️ What’s your strongest skill as a Maker?
We’re all naturally a little better at some things than others.
I’ve been thinking about what skills and behaviors make me… me. =)
I think some of them come with our DNA. Others are things we practice and practice until they become part of us.
And maybe the interesting part is learning how to make our strengths even stronger, while quieting the ones that sometimes make our path harder.
For me, I’d say my strongest ones are:
• Curiosity - I always want to understand and explore.
• Making spontaneous, fast decisions - can be either a strength or a weakness =D
• An eye for tiny details - sometimes I notice things nobody else would.
• Structuring almost everything - my brain naturally wants to turn things into systems and steps.
• I never, and I mean NEVER give up - I can change direction, steer differently, make U-turns, or take a completely different road. But I don’t stop moving toward the goal I’ve set.
My weakest one?
• Impatience !
I’m working on it, because sometimes I run before the whistle =D
So now I’m curious:
What’s your strongest skill or behavior as a maker?
Are our strongest traits something we’re born with, or can we build them through practice?
And what’s the one trait you’re currently trying to improve?
Replies
My strongest skill is staying consistent and figuring things out along the way. Curious to know, which trait are you currently trying to improve?

@shivam_kushwaha16 Yes, consistency is a great one!
The main one I’m trying to improve is impatience, as I mentioned. It has led me throughout my whole life - I couldn’t handle it when I was younger, but over the last few years, I’ve started to figure it out and demonstrate a bit more patience =)
Fast decisions can save much time but I can also see how impatience could make you move before you have enough informations! 😅

@_leo_brown Exactly! And what about you? Do you usually make decisions quickly, or are you more the opposite?
Noticing small details is underrated. Sometimes the littel things are exactly what users notice even if they cant explain Why.
RunEvr
@matthewbaker Yes, agreed. Do you also have that skill?

Cutting is mine. I am better at deleting half a landing page than writing it, and the version people respond to is always the shorter one. The skill I keep losing to is patience, same as you.

@yelyzaveta_kibets Keeping things laconic but thoughtful and useful is a really strong skill.
And regarding impatience - when I face a situation like that, I just tell myself “wait until tomorrow !” =)

@joroh Yes! =)
This might be the main challenge for technical people. You know what to build, but it can be difficult to figure out how to introduce and monetize it.
Are you building alone, or planning to involve a marketer or someone focused on growth?
Making things efficient. If something has to be done twice by hand, I'd rather spend that time making it stop needing me at all.
And range. Not just the technical side. I taught myself marketing, tax and the legal side as well, and that is what makes a company of one actually work.

@hisashispace Don’t you sometimes get dizzy with all the hats you have to wear?
