A small business lost everything to a QR phishing attack. So I built ScanLikely. AMA πŸ‘‹

Hey Product Hunt! πŸ‘‹

I'm Hassan, and I'm launching ScanLikely next week - An AI powered QR scanner built specifically to block phishing attacks, and provide safe alternative recommendations. It also offers location based alternatives to any QR code scanned; scan a menu get alternative restaurants in the area if you dont like anything there. The goal is to make this a free forever fully functional advertisement supported application.

Why I built this:

A close friend runs a company that supports small businesses. One of his customers scanned a QR code that looked exactly like their accounting software login. Within hours, threat actors had their banking information. The small business was devastated. I have family members who own small businesses. An attack like this would destroy them too. So I spent the last few months building and testing ScanLikely.

What makes it different:

Most QR scanners just open any URL without checking if it's safe. ScanLikely checks every QR code and provides a risk score before opening it.

Sneak peek at features:

πŸ›‘οΈ Real-time threat detection for websites launched from qr codes

πŸ”„ Redirect evaluation track the number of redirects, and evaluate the final domain

πŸ“Ά WiFi QR security analysis (open network warnings)

πŸ’° Payment QR fraud detection (Know if the the QR code directs to CashApp, Venmo, PayPal, etc.)

πŸ“± Social QR safety checks (Know if the the QR code directs WhatsApp, Telegram, Discord)

πŸ” Passkey authentication security

🏒 Enterprise dashboard (for businesses, ask me more about this)

Here's what I'm learning:

"Quishing" (QR + phishing) is up 400% this year. The scary part? QR links aren't visible until you scan them, they bypass email filters, and employees use personal devices (no corporate protection).

Launching: 11/11/2025

Platforms: iOS & Android

Pricing: Free (ad-supported) or Corporate version available soon for regulated industries

Ask me anything about:

- Building a security app as a solo founder (Part time)

- QR phishing threats

- Features you'd want to see

- Anything else!

Would love your feedback and questions before we launch πŸš€
