Building a multi-account dashboard for X while the platform keeps changing under me: what I learned
Hi everyone 👋
For the past few months I've been building xCinder (xcinder.com), a dark, TweetDeck-style workspace for people who run several X accounts: agencies, community managers, founders with a brand account plus a personal one. It's still under heavy development, so I'd like to share what I've learned and hear how you handle the same problems.
What I learned while building it
1. People want fewer logins before they want more features. The most-used part is seeing several timelines side by side and choosing which account does what. So the deck is made of columns (Timeline, Profile, Bookmarks, Explore, Trending, Grok chat), each running through the account you pick.
2. Posting the same text from many accounts gets accounts flagged. The auto-poster can schedule or repeat posts across a group of accounts, and an AI writer (Grok, or your own OpenAI key) gives each account different wording. It rejects drafts that are too similar to each other.
3. Research is half the job, so exporting data matters. The Data Scraper saves search results, followers/following lists, and a user's posts to CSV or JSON. The free plan includes 100 rows a month.
4. Bulk actions need friction. Account Cleanup (bulk-delete posts, unfollow people) always shows a preview of what will change first. Auto Engage (likes, reposts, bookmarks) lets you target all accounts, a label group, or a hand-picked set.
5. The platform keeps changing, so I spend more time keeping existing features working than adding new ones. Plain-language errors help a lot ("login expired" beats a raw error code).
What's in it today: the column deck, auto-poster with AI writing, Auto Engage, Data Scraper, Account Cleanup, light/dark themes, and an English + Arabic interface. There's a free plan, and it's rough in places.
Where I'd love your input
- If you manage more than one X account, what's the most annoying part of your workflow?
- What should stay manual and never be automated?
- Would you trust a third-party tool with account access? What would you need to see first?
I'll answer every question in the comments. Thanks for reading! 🙏
