I launched my first app on Product Hunt with zero audience. Here are the honest numbers.

Two days ago I launched CalNote AI, an iPhone app that starts recording when a meeting on your calendar starts and saves a clean note to Files, Obsidian or Notion. I'm a product owner, not a developer, and this was my first launch anywhere.

The numbers, since I couldn't find many posts that share small ones:

  • Final position: #500 for the day, 1 upvote, no outside comments

  • New devices on launch day: 4 (a normal day is about 3)

  • Total devices since Oct 20: 30 before the launch, 37 now

What I think went wrong:

  • I launched from a brand-new account with no followers and no hunter. On launch day nobody saw it, so it got no votes and stayed out of sight.

  • I posted a dev diary in a topic forum the day before. It was removed for being promotional, and fairly so. Product posts belong here.

What I'm doing differently:

  • Talking to a handful of people who make videos about productivity apps, instead of one big launch day.

  • Shipping what early users ask for. 1.1.4 went live today with a "See more in Calendar" link, a full-recording player at the top of each note, and a Control Center button that opens the app and starts recording in one press.

  • Writing on smaller communities where people use Obsidian and Notion.

If you've launched from zero followers: what moved the needle for you after launch day?

Thanks for sharing small numbers, that's rare here. When I joined in September I watched for a month before launching anything. Nobody knows me in English, so instead of pulling people in from outside or chasing a hunter, I'm building trust inside PH first. Talking to video makers sounds like a smart way to bring people in from outside, though.
