I wanted to know if anyone read my resume… so I built Hostit

by

A few months back, I was on a job hunt - sending out resumes into the void with zero visibility. Did anyone even open them? How long did they look? No idea. That frustration led me to hack together a simple resume-sharing tool with view tracking.

Fast forward to today, and that hack has evolved into Hostit: a full-fledged document sharing app that lets you securely share and track your documents with analytics baked in.

Here’s what Hostit does now:

  • Upload any doc → get a clean shareable link

  • Track total & page-by-page view time

  • See where your viewers are (country, city)

  • Track external link clicks & downloads

  • Secure with passwords & disable downloads

  • Custom short URLs

  • Works with PDF, PPT, DOCX, XLSX

  • Bonus: AI chat with your doc → helps you practice pitches/interviews and (soon) get actionable insights to improve the doc itself

👉 If you’ve ever sent a resume, pitch deck, or proposal and wished you had more transparency on what happened after, I’d love for you to give Hostit a try: https://hostit.world

Thanks for reading! Happy to answer any questions 🙏
