Is having a hunter still useful in 2026? Why / why not?

I’m preparing for my first-ever Product Hunt launch and trying to understand how things actually work today.

I’ve read a lot of mixed takes — some people say hunters still matter for reach and early momentum, others say it’s much more about the product, timing, and community than who hunts you.

For context:

We’re launching Votap, a mobile app that lets people vote on politicians, news, and political questions in real time, turning public opinion into live sentiment you can track over time. Think of it as a public opinion layer rather than a traditional poll.

Before we lock anything in, I’d really appreciate hearing from people who’ve launched recently:

  • Does having a hunter still make a meaningful difference in 2026?

  • In what cases does it help — and when does it not?

  • What does it actually do?

And if anyone here loves the idea and would genuinely enjoy hunting it, feel free to reach out — happy to chat and learn either way. Here is my LinkedIn: https://www.linkedin.com/in/alexandr-cizek-a2b219395/

Thanks in advance 🙏
