Something strange about how we all choose SaaS tools

by

I noticed something odd while building a small side project recently.

When founders choose SaaS tools, we spend a lot of time comparing:

features
UI
integrations
reviews

But almost nobody asks the most important question:

“Is this actually worth the price?”

Most SaaS discovery platforms focus on helping you find tools.

But they rarely help you understand the real value vs cost.

And because of that, many founders slowly build a stack of subscriptions that looks something like this:

$29/month here
$49/month there
$99/month somewhere else

Individually they don’t feel expensive.

But after a while you look at your billing dashboard and realize you’re spending hundreds (sometimes thousands) every month.

And half the tools are only being used for one or two features.

This realization is actually what pushed me to build TrustROI.

The idea is simple:

A place where you can explore SaaS tools and understand their ROI and value before subscribing.

Still very early, but I’m curious about something:

How do you personally decide if a SaaS tool is worth paying for?

Gut feeling?
Reviews?
Recommendations?

Or do you actually try to calculate the ROI somehow?

Would love to hear how others approach this.
