Trigger moments > habits: what I’ve learned building my platform
When I lived in the US, I thought my Amex Platinum covered me everywhere. Back in Spain, I realized how messy coverage really is: Italy mandates CDW, Spain excludes tires & glass, and as an expat my Amex coverage duration was shortened.
At first, I built Norte like a “coverage tracker.” But after talking to travelers and testing the product, I realized:
People don’t want another daily habit app.
The real value is in trigger moments — right before a trip, rental, purchase, or claim.
That’s where we’ve focused:
Wallet Intelligence → shows overlaps, gaps, and regional conflicts in real-time.
Smart Document Storage → receipts, warranties, and policies all in one place, searchable so you can actually use them when needed.
This shift has already saved some early users money (e.g. avoiding duplicate rental coverage, discovering emergency coverage they can now claim for...).
How do you currently keep track of your coverage and receipts when traveling or making big purchases?
Have you gone through a similar pivot from trying to build habits to focus on delivery for trigger moments?
