We launched on Product Hunt this week and ended up #1 Product of the Day.
Sharing a few tactical lessons while it’s still fresh (without turning this into a promo post).
1) Comments matter more than we expected.
Not “marketing comments”, but real questions and real answers. The threads that performed best were the ones where we asked a follow-up question and kept the conversation going.
2) “Ask for feedback” beats “ask for upvotes”.
We avoided any upvote asks and focused on: “Can you sanity-check this?”, “What would you change?”, “What would stop you from trying it for 7 days?”.
It felt more aligned with the community and led to better discussions.
3) Have a response plan before you launch.
The best momentum came from being present early and consistently replying. Even short replies worked if they were specific.
4) Weekend launches are interesting.
Quieter traffic, but also less competition. It felt like a different game than mid-week launches.
Question for the community:
What’s your best tactic to keep momentum after winning Product of the Day, especially if you want to compete for Product of the Week, without becoming spammy?

@sasha_dikan Thank you! We launched without a hunter. What helped was good prep, media warm-up across our socials, and connecting with the Product Hunt community beforehand. Plus, being active in comments during the launch made a big difference.

@torianyk many thanks! Could you maybe share a bit more about good prep? What does it include?
