Quick honest story: I'm a dropout who's tried and closed four startups before this one. Each one taught me something. This is the first one where I actually stuck around long enough to build something I'd trust with my own money literally, since I'm the first user.

A while back I put together FreeSignature (freesignature.site), a free generator for HTML email signatures no account, no watermark, nothing to install. I made it because every tool I found either wanted $9/month or stamped its own logo into my signature.

What surprised me is what people actually asked for. I expected requests about fonts, colours, layout. Almost none came. The two things people wrote about were:

1. "Will it still work in Outlook?" Outlook renders email HTML with Word's engine, so anything modern breaks in ways you only discover after sending it to a client. Half the work in that tool is not design, it is avoiding CSS that Outlook silently drops.

2. "Where is my data going?" A signature contains your full name, role, phone number and employer. People were right to ask. It runs entirely in the browser; nothing is sent anywhere.

I built Chadence because I know what it feels like to lose someone and wish you still had more of their voice, stories, memories, and messages.

Chadence is a digital legacy platform designed to help people preserve the parts of themselves they want their loved ones to keep including voice recordings, photos, videos, stories, memories, and personal messages.

The goal is simple: give people a way to leave more than photographs behind.

Chadence is live now, and I d genuinely appreciate feedback from other founders and makers.

I had been having a hard time for couple of monts with doomscrolling on apps like Instagram and Reddit. Last year, I tried using Apple's built-in screen time on my iPhone to set limits to my usage of these apps. However, in most cases, I would just tap on the "Ignore Limit for 15 Minutes" notification that appeared every time.

This became so frustrating that I tried many third-party blockers. Most of them would require a local VPN to be installed, so draining the battery and having access to all of my traffic, which did not seem like a good privacy tradeoff to be honest.

Five years ago I signed the biggest financial commitment of my life and was too embarrassed to admit I didn't understand it. I nodded along in the meeting. I told people I "knew what I was doing." Really, I just knew the monthly number and I was scared to ask what happened to that number if rates went up, because asking felt like admitting I'd made a mistake I couldn't afford to have made.

Then one night I actually sat down with a notebook and worked through the maths myself. I understood so much more than I expected to and that's when it hit me: if I was struggling with this, there had to be a lot of people going through the exact same thing, quietly, without telling anyone either.

So I built something. At first just for myself, but with the thought that it might help others too something that shows you what's actually principal, what's interest, what an overpayment really does, what a rate rise really costs, without having to say any of that out loud to a bank, a broker, or anyone else.

It's called Mortgage Insights. Everything stays on your phone no account, no one on the other end. The basics are free, permanently, because I don't think understanding your own mortgage should cost anything.
