Really, really glad you are shaking this up. The only real competition I see would be from Canada, where they do not require prescriptions at all and will directly mail you your contacts at usually cheaper prices.
@lukedeannif It's not legal for contact lenses to be shipped from Canada into the United States without a valid Rx. The regulators crack down on this very regularly. I'd be wary of any company that claimed they could do that.
@joshdance We're building that functionality into the app right now ;) If you have a valid Rx we waive your $10 fee and send you reminders. Just send a note to support@simplecontacts.com with the Rx and we'll take care of it for you.
I've heard that Ophthalmologists and Optometrists do not like each other and that you are working with Ophthalmologists only. Is there a contentious relationship with the Optometry community?
@jefielding We only employ Ophthalmologists even though we'd love to work with Optometrists. While the Ophthalmology community strongly supports our technology and has helped us expand our offering, the leaders of the Optometry community have fought new technology. They think that in preventing progress, they'll protect their bottom lines by stopping patients from buying their lenses elsewhere. So, while many well meaning Optometrists would love to work with us, their license and relationships within the community are being threatened.
