Smooth Recorder is a native Mac app for demos and tutorials. It zooms in where you click, smooths your cursor, adds captions on your Mac and puts it all on a nice background. Screenshots get the same features.
👋 Hey Product Hunt!
I'm Anas. I made Smooth Recorder because every time I recorded a product demo, recording was the easy part. The editing took an hour: zooming into clicks, hiding a shaky cursor, adding captions, and putting it on a background so it didn't look like a raw screen recording.
So I built an app that does all of that for you.
✨ Features:
• Auto Zoom – Zooms where you click and follows your cursor, so viewers can easily follow along.
• 3D Angles (new in v1.1) – Adds a subtle tilt during zooms for a more cinematic look.
• Smooth Cursor, Camera Bubble & Captions – Captions are generated on your Mac, and you can edit your video by simply deleting words from the transcript.
• Beautiful Screenshots – Press ⌥1, select an area, and it instantly lands on a wallpaper with a shadow, ready to share. Includes 76 wallpapers.
It's a native macOS app (built with SwiftUI, not a web app in a window).
💰 Early access: $9 one-time.

I'd love to hear what you record with it and what features you'd like to see next. I read every reply. ❤️
Lately, I’ve been making more tutorials, so I’ve tried quite a few screen recording tools on Mac, including Screen Studio. Smooth Recorder genuinely holds its own against them and in a few areas, I actually prefer it.
What stands out:
• Automatic zooms + smooth cursor: Recordings already look edited when you hit stop. • Transcript editing: Edit the video by editing the text, and remove filler words or long pauses in one click. • More than video: Screenshots, scrolling captures, GIFs, text extraction, and smart redaction are all built in. • Native + private: It’s a real macOS app, and captions, OCR, and redaction all happen locally on your Mac.
A seriously polished tool for anyone creating demos, tutorials, or product content on Mac.
Captions run on your Mac, nothing gets uploaded. On macOS 26, the first time you make captions it downloads Apple's speech model by itself, and after that it works offline.
It goes by your Mac's language and region, so set your Mac to English (India) to get the Indian English model, which does better with the accent.
Long recordings are fine. If a word comes out wrong, you can just click the caption and fix it.
@nrupen_mandava Yes for limited time as we crossed 100 users.

Auto zoom following clicks is right until it lands on a click that didn't matter, and then you're back in the timeline anyway. Can a zoom be moved after the fact?

Great job with this @mdanassaif ! I love the auto detection and blurring of sensitive details feature.
@itsrakesh Thanks Rakesh : )
Glad you like Smart Redact. No more blurring emails and API keys by hand before sharing a screenshot.
Any plans to include Windows and cover a bigger market? :)
@busmark_w_nikaThanks Nika. Yes, Windows is on the roadmap : )
For now I am focused on making the Mac version great. I'll share it here when it's ready.
@dessignnet
Well Marios, Voice-over is already in: when you pick an area to record, click the mic chip on the bar under it and choose your microphone.
Thanks a lot : )
How do the on device captions hold up on a long recording with an accent, say Indian English? Does it need a model download first?

very cool! congrats!
@illyism Thanks a lot : )))
Looks really useful. I like that the recording already looks edited. Is the $9 price just for early access?

How does this compare to CleanShot Pro?
What differentiates it from tools like Cap.so and Kap? I think the interface, and the feature set closely resembles that of Cap.
