I've been banging on the doors to get access to Superhuman's AI for months — all the way back in March — an eternity in AI land! And now, here it is! As expected, the implementation is elegant and subtle — staying out of the way until you need it. No doubt there'll be more improvements to come, but having a personalized AI agent that can write emails on my behalf and in my voice? — yes, this is exactly what being Superhuman is all about. ᕙ(⇀‸↼‶)ᕗ

Superhuman are absolute rockstars when it comes to implementing every feature. So much thought goes behind each and every improvement, and they somehow never make the product feel more bloated, and absolutely NEVER slow the experience down. Superhuman AI is no different, in fact, it's a perfect example of them making things *faster*. I must admit, it took some getting used to, having an AI assistant in my inbox with me. But more and more I am finding myself using it to get back to emails — especially the ones I know I should have replied to yesterday. It really helps kick off a draft and eliminate the "blank canvas" issue I often face. Keep it up, Superhuman team! Always an inspiration! ❤️

I have been using Superhuman for years now and this is one of the best, obvious and needed feature, implemented in the best possible way. It would be great if I can fix AI drafts instantly in the AI modal screen. Many times I wanted to fix something small before hit "enter", or even continue working with this draft with AI tool, before I actually get the result in the email screen. Thanks!

@timraiter thank you, your words have made our collective days! we did think about letting you edit in the AI modal directly, but then we'd have a textarea in a textarea, and we thought it would get confusing. but maybe it wouldn't be that bad!

Also, curious, there is an always available option "rewrite in my Voice". Shouldn't it be by default? Probably all AI drafts should be "in my voice", so then I can make them shorter, longer, and summarize. I will never need a corporate and super official or really funky voice in my emails :)

@timraiter we built it to write in your voice by default! We chose to keep the option in the menu as well for times where it didn't write quite on-brand in the first pass, or where you are using the AI to edit some text that's already in your email body.

@timraiter we chose to not allow direct editing in the results window, but you can always give it a follow-up prompt to keep tweaking the result! just type your instructions in the input field right below the result and hit enter to give it some follow-up directions. I often tell it to add a concept or to fill in a placeholder in the first result i get back.

@jessicakchen we use various models of ChatGPT under the hood, so please only use Superhuman AI if you would be comfortable doing the same thing via ChatGPT. (As you probably know, OpenAI has committed to not using data provided via the API as training data.)

@rahulvohra Got it! I assume then it will be possible to use Superhuman without using Superhuman AI? Or that we can apply Superhuman AI to certain mailboxes but not others? (I'm specifically thinking that work email is more sensitive.)

@rahulvohra @jessicakchen during early access, Superhuman AI is an opt-in feature that you can enable for each individual email address you have in Superhuman. So in your example, you could turn it on for a personal account only. Just switch to that account in Superhuman, hit CMD+K (or CTRL+K), and type 'AI' to find the activation path 🙏 The setup process does reference some of your recent emails to get a sense of your writing style, but after setup it will only show up when you tell it to (by hitting CMD+J in a conversation) and only gets access to that current conversation's context when you send it instructions.

Superhuman has built a truly integrated product that does things only it can do. I have had access for a few weeks and, I will have to say 1) the ability to write in my particular voice, and 2) summarize conversations, are two of the most powerful and unique features. Right now, most AI features real value is saving you the time of copying and pasting from Chatgpt. But Superhuman is doing something different by doing things you otherwise wouldn't be able to do with external AI tools.
