I'm excited about the concept of Swell and having multiple great options in the world of out-of-box solutions to e-commerce. I made a dummy store to test it out and will continue to experiment. The one thing that's tough to digest off the bat is the pricing. Entry level at $59/month for Basic is fine, but the jump to $299/month and $549/month for Standard and Advanced plans puts it out range for many of my clients. For better or worse with Shopify, I can recreate what I'd need from the Advanced plan using 3rd party Shopify apps for half the price. I know that it's not apples to apples because there are specific reasons to want to use Swell such as their advanced integration capabilities. And respect if you're just going after that market and not your DIYers / fly-by-night dropshippers, but for my middle-of-the-road e-commerce clients who wouldn't be working on their own stores, the expense would still be passed onto them, it's hard to push them towards Swell at that price point. I hope you don't take this comment as criticism -- just feedback. If no-one shares their price objections, you won't know. Other than my initial price objection, I'm looking forward to learning more about Swell. Keep up the great work.

@paul_e_drecksler No this is great feedback Paul, thanks for sharing it with us. We're mostly targeting mid-market and up at the moment, as that's the sweet spot for the product capabilities and pricing. When you're working with devs to build out custom functionality, the monthly fee pays for itself many times over through increased developer efficiency.

@paper_tokyo understood and great point. I'm hoping to have a client who's a right fit for it soon so I can fully build out a store on Swell. I'll be following closely in the meantime

@kaigradert Thanks so much Kai! Love that you're also super into product. We're very much product-first but want to deliver headless ecommerce to the masses in the future. Cheers

Amazing job!! Frickin impressive it’s only been two years and this is what you come up with? You’re supposed to be embarrassed when you launch 😂 you guys are machines. Keep it up!
Eric Ingram
@corey_haines Thanks Corey! Huge fan of your work :) Frankly there is a lot of background to how we got here (look forward to telling that story in full), but what you see now is truly the result of an amazing team grinding away for 2 years.

The future!! So cool to learn about the differentiators btwn Swell and other options available - as a marketer this is a tool I can see taking a lot of burden off me and my team.
Eric Ingram
@sophia_dean Thanks Sophia, we're stoked to make something amazing for marketers!
Robin Klaiss
Great! The developer starter plan link does not work :) Can't wait to test-drive your product!
Eric Ingram
@robin_klaiss2 Which link are you having trouble with exactly?

?makers looks really cool! Great job :) I definitely think headless wins on developer experience but how do I convince clients or non-technical stakeholders to go for headless over something like Shopify, WooCommerce or Webflow?
Eric Ingram
@yonidejene Great question, and that's why we're working to make the rest of the platform experience amazing for operators (not just devs), so it's easy to get clients on board. We believe you shouldn't have to trade ease of use and features for a headless architecture. If you create a store and dig in I think you'll see what I mean :)
