Hey Product Hunters! If you ask what inspires us at The Breakfast the most, I would say it’s talking to people. That is why we are building an app for meeting new people in real life, over breakfast. And that’s why we enjoy talking to our users so much! Based on member feedback and a dataset of 50k+ chances (we call every introduction a chance), we crafted the BRIOCHE algorithm that we’re launching today on Product Hunt! BRIOCHE stands for Breakfast Integrated Ongoing Chances Estimation — it finds you the best chance amongst the people who are also looking for chances at the moment. The interesting part is that now you can set your breakfast preference to look for someone similar to you (with more things in common) or for someone diverse (with more things to discover). People are complex, so there’s much more to it than your age or profession — give it a try! And yes, The Breakfast is invite only and subscription-based to maintain the vibe, but we’ve created a special invite code for Product Hunters! Use the code HUNT while onboarding — this will give you 20% off of your first week or first month. Just make sure to fill out your profile properly and let BRIOCHE work its magic!

Hey everyone! You might have this question, “Is The Breakfast launched in my city?” Well, we launch new cities whenever a city reaches 151 local profiles. And today, the app is launched in New York, Lisbon, Berlin, Kyiv, and London. We have Paris, Tbilisi, Warsaw, Amsterdam, San Francisco, Barcelona, and Los Angeles coming really soon. Download the app and fill out a profile to see your city’s status. Let’s have breakfast!

This is great. Having used the classic breakfast in Kyiv and London I’m excited to see new advancements in the community matching. This is true that sometimes one feels adventurous yet conservative some other days due to life situations and mood changes. On top of that it’s nice to see me as a human to have a little control of the “algo” vs fully auto. Upvote!

@kurilo thank you!! I love how you put it — ’the classic breakfast.‘

I love the idea of using algorithms to find new connections over breakfast. It's interesting that you offer the option to find someone similar or diverse. Can you share any insights on the different experiences users have had when choosing one option over the other?
Lisa Oreshkina
@tjerkienator Great question! We've just launched the UI for BRIOCHE, so I don't have the exact data to answer. What we do know is that people have two very distinct scenarios when using The Breakfast: 1. They are either looking for someone with a common interest and a similar situation in life; 2. Or they are looking for new experiences that would bring them out of their professional routines and social bubbles. But the overall experience is the same: two people arrange a time and place, meet and talk over breakfast — to have an inspiring morning, learn something new and get to know a new person.

Refreshing approach to meeting new people! I love how it takes away the awkwardness of traditional networking events. Quick question: will the app expand to include virtual breakfast meetings or stick to in-person gatherings? Keep up the awesome work! 🍳👀
Lisa Oreshkina
@vera_ratovska Thank you, Vira! Yes, we firmly believe in the importance of meeting IRL. People are physical, so we keep breakfasts offline. (Goof luck with the upcoming launch!)
