If you spend 7+ hours a day staring at screens, your eyes are paying the price. Eye floaters. Headaches. Blurry vision.
I built Tweny because I was tired of my own eye strain.
Tweny is the first focus timer that combines the 20-20-20 rule with Pomodoro. Every work interval ends with a proper eye break. You stay productive AND protect your vision.
Key features
- Live Activities
- Apple Watch app
- Health tips from proffesionals
- Badges, streaks and 12 levels to complete
Hey everyone! I'm Alvaro, the solo developer behind Tweny.
I've been coding for years, and about a year ago I started noticing eye floaters. I was told about the 20-20-20 rule: every 20 minutes, look at something 20 feet away for 20 seconds. Simple enough, right?
But here's the thing: I could never remember to do it. I was using Pomodoro apps, but they just count down work time. They don't care about your eyes.
So I built Tweny. It combines focus sessions with proper eye breaks. The app reminds you to rest your eyes at the right intervals, shows your timer on the Lock Screen so you dont need to unlock your phone, and even works on Apple Watch so you can leave your phone in another room.
I added gamification because I know habits are hard. Earning badges and building streaks actually makes me want to take my breaks.
Would love to hear your feedback. Do you struggle with eye strain too? What features would you want to see next?

@lvrpiz the idea is great but it's not available for Android??
@tetianai Yees! You can share them with friends and family and on Instagram Stories

@lvrpiz The personal story makes it hit.
Quick Q: how do you handle people who use multiple screens (laptop + monitor)?
Any plans for Mac/iPad companion or is it iOS/Watch-only for now?
@sergios_charalambous For the moment the app is available for iPad, iPhone, Apple Watch compaion and Vision Pro. I’m planning to develop one specific for mac in the future

@lvrpiz Great approach combining 20-20-20 with Pomodoro, Alvaro! Eye health is often overlooked in focus apps. I'm building a cross-platform Pomodoro timer myself and I really like how you implemented the gamification with badges and levels - it makes habit building much more engaging. The Live Activities integration is a nice touch for staying aware without unlocking. Congrats on the launch! 🎉
Does the eye break timer work in "Focus Modes" (like Do Not Disturb), or does it require the ringer to be on?

@chi_hung_wong Great question. If it can deliver haptics + Live Activity while in Focus, that’s a killer “deep work” setup. @Álvaro does it still alert via watch haptics even with DND on?
Eye floaters club here 🙋♂️. I never remember the 20-20-20 thing. Pomodoro + proper eye break is a neat twist. Live Activities + Watch haptics could be clutch when I bury my phone. Not hype, just curious if the nudges are gentle. Installing to see if it sticks.
Hey@alexcloudstar ! I develop this app for my own interest but I friend in the same situation suggested sharing it so here we are, hope you find it useful!
Loved the character. And even more what you’re proposing here cause I actually suffer a lot when I spend more than certain hours working in my laptop. So, wish you all the best here
Congrats on the launch - I really like the personal motivation behind this. Combining Pomodoro with the 20-20-20 rule feels like an obvious idea in hindsight, but surprisingly rare in focus tools. The Apple Watch and Live Activities integration makes it feel very actionable during real workdays. Curious if you’re planning deeper health insights or personalization based on screen time habits over time.

LOVE this. I think the wearable approach to this is smart.
I could see this being valuable as a B2B app where it could be treated as preventative vision care.

@chi_hung_wong @sergios_charalambous It works as any notification, you’ll have to disable DND to get the alerts but Live Activities are always present

B2B would be nice@dakota_burrow but hard to market I guess
I just got my eyes checked and due to my excessive screen time, my prescription for eyes went up. Needed this kind of app in my life.

Android dominates the mobile operating system market with roughly 70-72% share, and still we dont have the andriod app.
