Building an options portfolio tracker as a solo founder, what would you want to see?
Hey PH community đź‘‹
I’m Johnny — solo founder + full-time DevOps guy building something a bit niche: an options portfolio tracker for retail traders.
I didn’t start as a founder. I started as a frustrated user.
I was running multi-leg strategies (spreads, wheel, LEAPS), got assigned shares, rolled positions… and realized:
Spreadsheets break.
Broker dashboards oversimplify.
Nothing really shows true portfolio-level risk.
So I started building the tool I personally needed:
• Stocks + options in one place
• Proper multi-leg strategy tracking
• Real P&L (including assignments + rolls)
• Greeks + risk exposure at portfolio level
• Clean, no-BS dashboard
Since the first version, I’ve shipped 100+ iterations based purely on user feedback.
Now I’m preparing for a Product Hunt launch soon, and before I hit that button, I’d love honest input from this community.
If you trade or invest:
What’s the most frustrating thing about tracking performance?
Do you trust broker-reported P&L? Why / why not?
If you were trying a new financial tool, what would make you stick?
Not here to pitch — genuinely here to learn before launch day.
Appreciate any thoughts 🙏
