Building immigro: from confusion to clarity in US immigration
When I first started my U.S. immigration journey, I felt completely lost.
There was no single place that explained things clearly. I kept jumping between government websites, random blogs, Reddit threads, and YouTube videos, trying to connect the dots myself.
And the more I searched, the more confusing it got.
Which visa should I apply for?
Which city makes sense for my situation?
What documents do I actually need?
Am I doing something wrong without realizing it?
At some point, it stopped being research and just became stress.
That’s when I started thinking, why isn’t there one place that actually guides you through all of this?
That idea slowly turned into immigro.
I didn’t want to build just another app full of information. The goal was to make something that actually helps you move forward step by step.
So I started building tools that could help you figure out the best visa path, suggest a state and city based on your lifestyle, help you practice interviews, and keep track of your USCIS case.
Over time, it became more than that.
We added things like document checklists, a built-in photo tool, cost of living comparisons, a community, and even job listings with visa sponsorship.
The hardest part wasn’t building features. It was keeping everything simple in a process that is naturally complicated.
There’s still a lot to improve, but seeing people feel less lost makes it worth it.
Curious to hear from you:
What has been the most confusing part of your immigration journey?
