Feedback wanted: marketplace where you don’t have to prove your item

by

Hey Product Hunt community 👋

I’m building something around resale and ran into a problem that shows up in almost every transaction.

The problem:

Selling often turns into proving.

Even when the item is real, buyers still need reassurance. Proof ends up in messages, screenshots, receipts, and random links. It’s fragmented, hard to verify, and doesn’t carry over to the next buyer.

So every new transaction starts from zero.

Buyers compensate for that uncertainty. They ask more questions, hesitate, and negotiate harder. Sellers repeat the same explanations again and again.

What I built:

ViaHonest - a marketplace where the item carries its own proof.

Each item has a persistent record with origin, ownership history, and verification signals, all visible directly in the listing.

So instead of asking the seller for proof, the buyer can see the context immediately.

I’m also experimenting with resale royalties.

If an item gets resold, previous owners can keep a small percentage of future sales. The idea is that value doesn’t stop at the first transaction, but continues as the item moves.

Where I’m at:

Early stage - testing how this affects real buying and selling behavior.

My questions for you:

- Does this reflect your experience with resale marketplaces?

- Would item-level proof actually reduce back-and-forth?

- What would you need to see to trust a listing faster?

- If you sell, would resale royalties matter to you?

Thanks for any feedback - especially from people who actively buy or sell secondhand.
