I’m building a quiet place to unload. Looking for early thoughts
Hey everyone,
I’ve been working on something for some time and wanted to share it early, before calling it “done”. I don’t think it’ll ever feel perfect to me anyway. It’s one of those things I’ll probably keep questioning and tweaking as I go.
The idea came from a very simple feeling I missed. When I was younger, I could come home, drop my bag and just talk to my mom. No fixing, no advice, no performance. Just being heard. As life moved on, that space slowly disappeared and I noticed how hard it was to find something like it digitally.
Most journaling or mental health tools I tried felt loud or goal-oriented. Helpful for some people, but it never worked for me.
So I started building The Kitchen Table for myself first. The goal is simple: a quiet, private space where you can sit down, pick how you’re feeling and respond to gentle prompts without pressure. No audience, no productivity framing, no obligation to show up every day.
A few things I’ve been focusing on:
Keeping it calm and distraction-free
Letting entries feel conversational, not mindless rambling
Adding small touches like attaching photos and exporting entries as keepsakes
It’s still early and very much shaped by my own needs, which is why I’m sharing it here. I’d really like to hear:
Does this idea resonate at all?
What would make a space like this actually feel good to use?
What would immediately turn you off?
If anyone wants to be an early user or just give blunt feedback, I’d genuinely appreciate it. I’m not trying to build something big or viral. I just want to build something that feels right.
Thanks for reading and happy to answer any questions.
