I was afraid of API costs, so I launched with no Free Tier. Here is why I just changed my mind.
Hey hunters, I’m Ayesha (@AyeshaBuilds).
I’ve been building RoastMyLanding from Bangladesh. Yesterday, I shared that I was worried about offering a "Free Tier" because of high API costs. But after thinking about it, I realized that as a maker, the best way to prove the value of my tool is to let you see it in action first.
So, I’ve pivoted. 🚀
The Reality Check:
I’m now offering a Free Diagnosis Report for everyone. You get your overall score and the top 2 most critical repairs for free. If you want the full 10-point deep dive and PDF, that’s where the paid unlock comes in.
I’m still sticking to my "Founding Member" goal: 50 spots for a $29 lifetime deal. I want to find the makers who are serious about conversion and want to help me shape this tool.
I’d love to hear from other founders:
How do you balance giving enough value away for "free" while still protecting your business from high API costs? Did I make the right move by opening up a free diagnosis tier?
