Jot v1.5.8 is live

npm install -g intina47/jot

https://github.com/Intina47/jot

You probably don't need this.

You have Notion. You have Obsidian. You have approximately forty seven other apps that promised to fix your notes situation.

But here's the thing — jot doesn't ask you to open anything. You're already in the terminal. You type jot, write the thought, press enter, you're done. Back to work in under ten seconds.

And then — completely uninvited — it also previews your local files. Run jot open . in any folder and this clean little Notion-looking interface just appears. Sidebar, file list, renders your markdown, collapses your JSON into a tree, handles PDFs. All local. Nothing uploaded. Nothing subscribed to.

Is it a note-taking tool? Yes. Is it also a document viewer? Apparently. Did I plan any of this? I did not.

One binary. No account. No cloud. Just the command.

Try it. Or don't. But if you've ever had an AI assistant dump 20 markdown files on you with no good way to read them — you might want to try it.
