Lo-fi focus music apps just didn’t cut it for me, so I made one with intense, cinematic scores

I started building a focus timer app called Underlairs because I kept finding myself thinking, "There are a lot of beautiful, calm tracks, and lo-fi tunes for studying or working, but why isn't there a pomodoro timer with more immersive, cinematic sound?"

I did some early validation with a couple dozen potential users to see if this idea would even stick and discovered a warm signal, so I quickly launched an mvp to the iOS store.

I used Cursor, Sonnet 4.5, flutter & dart. I tried to design it with AI, but it didn't yield the result I wanted, so I just designed it myself in Figma and used Figma MCP to implement it.
