Simple logo project. Client loved the first concepts. Then:
"Can we try blue?" "What about a different direction?" "One more round?"
Three weeks later: 47 logo variations. The $1,500 project took 60+ hours. My hourly rate dropped to $25. That was scope creep!
What Is Scope Creep?
Scope creep is when a project expands beyond what was agreed—without extra pay.
It's not one big change. It's small requests that seem reasonable:
"Can we add one more page?"
"What about social graphics too?"
"One more revision, just to be safe."
Each feels minor. Saying no feels petty. So you say yes. Until you're working twice as hard for the same pay.
