What we learned after 1 year of building CutMe Short — an AI-powered link management tool

by

After a year of building and improving CutMe Short, our AI-powered link management platform, we’re finally getting ready for our launch here.

Over this past year, we’ve grown quietly but steadily — earning 4.7★ on G2, along with badges like High Performer and Highest User Adoption.
More importantly, we’ve learned a LOT from real teams using CutMe Short to manage, optimize, and analyze their links.

Here are a few things we discovered while building:

  • Branded links actually change user behavior. Custom domains + clean slugs consistently improve trust and engagement.

  • UTMs are painful for most marketers. Dynamic UTM templates + AI-suggested parameters became one of our most-loved features.

  • Links need flexibility. Expiry, link rotators, Google Analytics integration, editable OGP, folders, tags — all became essential.

  • Analytics must go beyond clicks. Teams want deeper insights: clicks by platform, device, city/state, referrers, unique users, even click predictions.

  • Sharing matters. Shared dashboards, workspaces became important for collaboration.

As we prepare for our Product Hunt launch, we’d love to learn from this community:

What’s the single most important thing you look for in a link shortener or link analytics tool?

Speed? Branding? Deep analytics? Team features? Something that nobody offers yet?

Your insights will help us refine the final touches before launch.

Happy to answer any questions about link management, analytics, or building CutMe Short!
