You have 10,000 files. You need ONE sentence from ONE of them. How long does that take you?

That's the problem I was trying to solve.

We're drowning in files. PDFs, screenshots, voice memos, videos - they pile up and searching is broken. You remember something from a document but not which one. You know you screenshotted something important but can't find it. You recorded a voice memo with an idea but it's buried in 500 other recordings.

The obvious solution? Upload everything to ChatGPT and hope it finds what you need.

But I refused to build it that way.

I've been building Recall.OS with this core belief: AI search shouldn't require giving away your files to someone else's servers. Your files are already on your computer - why upload them somewhere else just to search them?

So here's what I built:

Drop files anywhere. PDFs, videos, screenshots, voice memos - doesn't matter. Then just ask questions like you're talking to a person:

"What did that contract say about payment terms?"
"Where was that recipe I saved?"
"What was the name mentioned in that meeting recording?"

It finds the answer and shows you exactly where: page 12, timestamp 3:47, screenshot from last Tuesday.

Everything stays local. No uploads. No cloud. Just your files, instantly searchable.

Does this solve a real problem for you, or am I still missing the mark?
