Why do so many people still store sensitive info in plain text apps?
by•
I’ve noticed something interesting while building VaultNote.
Even smart, security-aware people still store sensitive info in:
– Apple Notes
– Google Keep
– Notion
– WhatsApp chats
– random text files
– screenshots
– “saved messages”
– email drafts
– sticky notes (physical or digital)
Not because they don’t care about privacy…
but because secure tools feel heavy compared to the apps they use every day.
I’m curious about your view on this:
Why do most people still choose convenience over private-by-design tools?
Is it:
• friction?
• trust issues?
• onboarding too complex?
• lack of awareness?
• fear of losing access?
• no real alternatives?
• or something else?
Really interested in your perspectives.
