We’re preparing to add thousands of new politicians to Votap, but there’s one problem. Adding and maintaining all those profiles manually would take FOREVER. Names, roles, parties, images, updates. Every politician needs accurate information, and everything has to look consistent inside the app.
So I built an internal admin dashboard that lets us easily create, edit and manage politicians without touching the database manually. But the exciting part is what comes next:
→ AI-assisted politician creation from just a name and country
→ Finding politician images with open licenses
→ Automatically cropping, resizing, positioning and styling images to match Votap’s signature look
→ Going from 10 minutes per politician to hopefully 10 seconds
And this is just the beginning. We’ll expand it to managing news outlets, reviewing reported comments, moderating content and much more. For me and Zahoor Ali, this is going to be an absolute game changer.

I'd measure the time from importing a profile to having it checked and ready to publish. Keeping the source URL, image licence and last-checked date beside each draft would make that review much quicker.
That also gives you a way to revisit old profiles when roles change.
@al_kub Great ideas. Honestly the biggest bottleneck are the images. We need to use a public domain image and then use AI to "style it to Votap format". I am implementing an OpenAI image gen tomorrow, intrested to see how it goes.
@alexandr_cizek I'd try cropping, sizing and background treatment first, keeping the original face pixels intact. Put the original beside the styled draft in review so a changed face is easy to catch.
@al_kub Yeah I got cropping sizing and background removal that can be done without AI no problem.. The issue is if the politician is not facing the "camera" or you cannot find a good image where they are on their own etc. + the AI can give you sort of uniform dark clothing...
