What if your username was part random, part you?
We’re adding user tags to Votap so people can reply to each other, tag users, and have real discussions. But we still want to keep anonymity.
So instead of people typing anything they want, tags are generated from a predefined pool of words.
You pick from a few simple categories… Then the app generates combinations like:
adjective + noun + number
But here’s the fun part. You’ll be able to reroll and randomize until you land on one you like. It turns something boring (creating a username) into a little game. And somehow it’s way more fun than just typing a name.

Gamifying the username selection is a really smart way to handle anonymity without making the platform feel impersonal. I've noticed that when apps give me a "reroll" button for avatars or names, I actually end up spending more time in onboarding just hunting for the funniest combo. It completely removes the frustration of the "username already taken" error while still giving users a sense of ownership over their identity. Curious if you're planning to let people lock in certain words they like and just reroll the rest?

@y_taka Haha I understand that. I will probably be spending at least 10 minutes getting mine when I launch this. Right now you can either hit the "randomize" button or you can keep "rerolling" the first part (adjective) and the second part (noun) as many times as you want.
If users want to keep trying until they get their perfect one then I think that should be allowed. The word "buckets" will be very large though so it will be difficult to get exactly what you want. After you choose these you will also a get a random number attached to it to unsure uniqueness. If I start seeing a lot of people with the same words I will change the system.
