Love the ‘no 30-minute meditations’ angle. I can’t sit still when I’m stressed. What kind of active recovery does it suggest — mostly walking or something else?
Welltory
@ilya_evseev We feel you! Most stressful moments cause anxiety, and it is so hard to switch to the meditation mode immediately. Welltory suggests changing a pose, doing a stretch, going for a short walk, or lying down. Once you start using it, you will quickly discover what helps you to change your focus and decrease stress. Thank you very much!
Welltory
@ilya_evseev Walking, any form of exercise, or even just “get up and stay standing” are great strategies. Meditation is definitely a skill worth mastering on quiet days) I understand you so well

What kind of model are you using to monitor sedentary stress? And how accurate is it?
@denis_lazare hey there, I can’t disclose all the details (patent is pending), but basically sedentary stress is when your heart rate is elevated while you sit still. “Stress” is not an external phenomenon (like your boss yelling at you) — it’s the negative impact of whatever is happening on your body’s cardiovascular systems. We have fantastic long reads about this on our sub-Reddit.
Welltory
@denis_lazare Great question!
Welltory doesn’t rely on a single “sedentary stress” model. Instead, we analyze heart rate variability (HRV) and other physiological signals to assess how your autonomic nervous system responds to low-activity, cognitive, and emotional loads — the kind of stress that often builds up while sitting, working, or focusing for long periods.
Our models are based on peer-reviewed research and trained on large, real-world datasets. They look at patterns linked to sympathetic and parasympathetic balance, recovery, and adaptability rather than just movement or posture alone.
As for accuracy: HRV is one of the most well-validated non-invasive markers for stress and recovery. While no physiological metric is perfect, combining HRV with context (time of day, activity, sleep, individual baseline) allows us to provide highly reliable, personalized insights that get more precise as the app learns your patterns over time.
The goal isn’t to label you as “stressed” or “not stressed,” but to help you notice trends, understand how your body responds to different types of load, and make informed adjustments throughout the day.
Really great idea! Wishing you the best.

@aima Even two weeks after launch, you're still devoting time to us Aima. It's invaluable, and we're very grateful for the opportunity to see the results of your work.
Welltory
@aima We'll be working hard to improve your experience with greater accuracy and a larger number of markers tracked by the app. We'd love to see you among our users, Aima!
Would love to see if this app can help me to spot burnout before it happens.
Welltory
@samiah_aman This is one of the features of our app. The short answer is yes, of course. Our app will help you with this Samiah
