I can see this being used by kids when traveling (if they are sick or something) - notice I didn't mention Adults, it'll freak a lot of people out at airports...I also see this being useful in some outdoor sports like biking/skiing but finding it hard to visualize a need for this in a regular day to day life.
How much will the filters cost? Will it be cost prohibitive if you need to replace them every month or two? That's more often than I replace the filter on my HVAC 😉
@sarthakgrover Traveling is definitely one of the big use cases of the mask. We have also kids sizes as they are even more sensitive to pollution in the air! Our filters cost around 5-6 Euro and last about a month, if you use them every day.

Hiya! Love the idea and product. Being in Santiago de Chile myself i am very concerned about this during winter time and have bought some air filters for the house and car, and a particle meter. One question, do you think the kids size option could fit a 1 year old baby?
@enriquedubois unfortunately our smallest size is currently for children 6+. But we are working hard to introduce more sizes for smaller children. Especially they should be protected!

Don't see in the trailer where do they hide recyclable filters. And do you really believe these masks will fit all faces? Because if they don't, then they will be almost useless. Care about clean air — go out of town 😄
@svetlyak40wt you are right in that fit is extremely important! This is why a mask needs to be adjustable to many different face sizes and shapes. And not everywhere in the world it's possible to just move into the nature ;)

I've known these guys since a couple of months back and I know they've put a lot of hard work into this! I'm really excited and happy for the response they got over at Kickstarted and I can't wait to see what the PH community thinks :) @heartstream could you share the vision with Airinum with us?
Thanks a million for both the hunting, the voting and the commenting - we love your support! @Ludvig Berling: At Airinum, our belief is that people all around the world should have the right to the most essential human need, breathing clean air. Our missions are to provide the best breathing protection for everyday life and at the same time help raise awareness about air pollution so that people can breathe without endangering their health. Unfortunately, poor air quality is today an acute problem for millions of people around the world - that's why we created the urban breathing mask; protective, functional and stylish. In this way, we give urban dwellers something they actually want to wear, instead of feeling embarrassed about it. Long-term, we hope that this product doesn't even have to exist!
@heartstream Does Airinum have any future plans to help create an environment where the masks are no longer needed? Your mission would align nicely with many non-profit clean-air initiatives. Any plans to partner with these kinds of organizations?

Living in Sweden, I'm blessed with pretty clean air but sadly that's not the case for all of the world. Although breathing masks exist today, these guys are differentiating by focusing heavily on design (doing it the Swedish way, of course!) but also by using replaceable filters that are more environmentally friendly than a one time mask.
They launched on Kickstarter recently and already exceeded their goals. Keen to hear more on the inspiration behind this from the founders...

I've lived in Beijing for extended periods of time. I'm glad at the attention you guys are paying towards the fit, because that really is the most important part. I had 3 different masks, but ended up just using one because it fit better than the rest.
Vogmasks (http://www.vogmask.com/) look really good fashionably but they couldn't fit over my face and so it was basically useless. Also this mask looks thin which is good because whenever you're around your friends or indoors you're going to want to take the mask off so portability and being able to put it in your pocket matters a ton too.
Best of luck with your product!
@mazlix Justin this is exactly the experience we had with other pollution masks. This is why we made our mask adjustable to many different faces. We even have a travel pocket to store the mask in for when you are not using it.
