Bambu Lab R1 is a 55W CO2 laser cutter built around automation. It handles optical alignment, material positioning and surface tracking for you, with a 600 × 300 mm work area, clear acrylic support, and optional conveyor processing up to 3 meters.

Hi everyone!
This is Bambu’s first standalone laser cutter. The H2D put a diode module in the printer, and a lot of people did not want soot in that box.
The useful part is the mirror alignment. On a CO2 laser, that usually means thermal paper, test shots, and tiny screws. R1 clips a sensor onto the toolhead and does the alignment automatically in about a minute.
The work area is 600 × 300 mm, speed goes up to 1000 mm/s, and a lot of the motion-control thinking comes from Bambu’s printers. Thick cuts need the longer-focus lenses, which are sold separately.
One thing worth knowing: add the riser or conveyor and it is no longer a closed Class 1 machine!

@zaczuo Wow, looks like a great machine! =)
Does a CO₂ laser have any material limitations?

@adana Wood, acrylic, leather, fabric, even glass and coated metal for engraving! Not bare metal, and definitely not PVC.
