Hey Product Hunt! 👋 I'm David, founder of face2social. I've spent the last four years working in computer vision, and today we're launching something we've been building around a simple question: What if you could find someone's social media accounts using just their face?
Imagine - a guy named Dario reaches out to you on Facebook with an incredible offer to invest in his IPO at a discount and you want to know who he is.
But how do you know the person behind that profile is who they claim to be?
Searching their name might return thousands of results. Searching their face can tell a different story.
That's what face2social is for.
Upload a photo, and we'll search for matching faces across Instagram, Facebook, LinkedIn, TikTok, and X.
You can explore matching profiles, compare names and profile information, and look for inconsistencies worth investigating further.
Same face, different names → someone is possibly using a borrowed face
Same name, but the story doesn't add up → investigate further, ask questions
Only one profile, created recently → ask for a live video call before anything else
One name and a consistent history everywhere → good sign
Here's how it works:
Upload a profile picture, screenshot, or any photo containing a face
Get a free search preview before paying
Unlock a report to explore matching social media profiles
No matches? No charge
Plans start at $19.99/month for 10 reports. We also offer API: https://dashboard.face2social.com/docs/
A few important things to know:
Face matching isn't identity verification. A match is a starting point for a potential further investigation, not a proof that two accounts belong to the same real life person.
We currently search profile pictures only with global coverage for Instagram, LinkedIn, TikTok, and X except for Facebook, where reach is limited primarily to the U.S.,
Use your own photos (for a test) or obtain the person's consent. Please read our U.S. Responsible use guide to help you navigate consent requirements: https://face2social.com/responsibleuseguide/
The service is not available in the state of Illinois, the EU/EEA, the UK, Canada, or Russia.
face2social is not a consumer reporting agency and must not be used for employment, credit, housing, or other eligibility decisions regulated by the FCRA.
Why we're launching on Product Hunt
We built face2social to help fellow founders, investors, and business partners better understand who they're connecting with online.
We realize that face search raises important questions about privacy, accuracy, and responsible use. And we want to have those conversations openly right here at PH.
What would you find a tool like this genuinely useful for? And what concerns would you want us to address?
Happy to answer any questions — including the uncomfortable ones.
@david_anderson41 It really lives up to expectations for the particular use case - to identify the person. This seems to be one of the product's most valuable features, if a good match is found you can see the name and profile link right away, without the need to dig deeper such as when Pimeyes finds a web page with a picture or when you find a group photo and have to still figure out who the exact person is.
@angelaaa Exactly! That's one of our key advantages. Unlike general-purpose face search engines, Face2Social is built specifically for social media discovery. We focus on finding matching faces across social platforms and connecting them directly to public profiles, with names and links — not just pages containing similar photos.
Of course, matches still need to be verified, but we make that process much faster and easier.
@david_anderson41 @angelaaa Heads up: I'm listed as a co-maker of face2social, but I have nothing to do with it. The account @gabrielgebara is fake and uses my identity without consent. I've reported it to Product Hunt.
Hey@david_anderson41 I was particularly impressed that it finds people in sunglasses hats and at weird angles. Whatever the method of searching they use seems to be very effective. I previously used competitors like PimEyes, TinEye and Lenso.ai and can tell the difference.
@priya_kushwaha1 Thanks, Priya! We often manage to find matches even from very low-quality, blurry, or heavily compressed images. It's something we've put a lot of effort into, so it's great to hear you noticed the difference!
@david_anderson41 thanks it's great, Face2Social looks really useful
@david_anderson41 @priya_kushwaha1 Please be careful with this launch. The team page uses a fake account in my name (@gabrielgebara). I’ve never worked on face2social and have reported it to Product Hunt.
@david_anderson41 How accurate is the face matching when someone diffrent photos across social media?
@shivam_kushwaha16 Great question, Shivam! That's one of the key strengths of Face2Social. We match faces, not identical images, so even completely different photos across social platforms can lead to a match.
We've put a lot of effort into handling different angles, lighting conditions, and even low-quality images. Of course, no facial recognition system is 100% accurate, so results should always be verified.
And you can always try it yourself! Searching and previewing potential matches is completely free — you only pay if you want to unlock profile details like names and usernames.
@david_anderson41 That makes sense David the effort you put into handling different angles and lighting is really important and I agree that results should always be verified before drawing conclusions
@david_anderson41 @shivam_kushwaha16 Please be careful with this launch. The team page uses a fake account in my name (@gabrielgebara). I’ve never worked on face2social and have reported it to Product Hunt.
@david_anderson41 I like the approach where you see full names and profile links right at the results page, making it very easy to reveal the names without the need of digging any further
And it worked for me!
@aryan_mehta6 Thanks, Aryan! Great to hear it worked for you! That's exactly what makes our approach different — we focus on connecting faces directly to social profiles, so you don't have to spend time figuring out where a photo came from or who it might belong to. Really appreciate the feedback!
@david_anderson41 @aryan_mehta6 Please be careful with this launch. The team page uses a fake account in my name (@gabrielgebara). I’ve never worked on face2social and have reported it to Product Hunt.
@david_anderson41 For a product that promises to tell you who’s real, launching with a fake maker is quite something.
Worked surprisingly well! I normally use PimEyes or Lenso, here I got more social profiles than in both combined for the same face! I’m wondering how many pictures they have in their database.
@glenn_ryan3 Thanks, Glenn! That's exactly what we've been focusing on. It's not just about how many photos you have in your database, but where and how you collect them. Our strength is our deep focus on specific social platforms rather than trying to index the entire web. Glad you noticed the difference!

Interesting angle to look at online scams prevention. Quick search can save you a lot of time, stress and of course money. The only problem is the consent requirements but I guess if a person has nothing to hide, they should be fine with a quick face search.
@monir_ Thanks, Monir! That's exactly what we're aiming for — helping people spot potential scams before they lose time or money.
And yes, consent is an important part of responsible face search. We believe online safety and privacy should go hand in hand, which is why we've made consent a requirement in our Terms of Service.

Looks like it’s good for checking if your photos are being used on fake social media accounts, the coverage seems pretty high, I’m impressed Tbh
@deepaksingh09 Thanks, Deepak! That's definitely one of our key use cases. And the cool part is that we don't just look for copies of the same photo — we can find matching faces even when completely different pictures are used. That's where our social media coverage really makes a difference!
@deepaksingh09 Please be careful with this launch. The team page uses a fake account in my name (@gabrielgebara). I’ve never worked on face2social and have reported it to Product Hunt.
I’m listed as a maker of face2social. I am not. I have never worked on this product, never created the account @gabrielgebara, and never consented to my name, headline or LinkedIn being used. I’ve reported this to Product Hunt. @david_anderson41, remove me from the team page now.
It works.. the option to see a preview before making a payment helps with trust
@charan_t_m Thanks, Charan! That's exactly why we built it this way. We want people to see potential matches before deciding whether it's worth paying. No match, no charge!
@charan_t_m Please be careful with this launch. The team page uses a fake account in my name (@gabrielgebara). I’ve never worked on face2social and have reported it to Product Hunt.
Glad you've spelled out that a face match isn't identity verification. That distinction needs to stay clear when someone is looking at the results.
@oleksii_sekundant Absolutely, Oleksii! A face match is a starting point, not proof of identity. We help people discover potential connections across social profiles, but the final judgment should always be based on additional context and verification. Thanks for highlighting this!
