I built Godwit for people who want an email client they can make their own, including the AI models and tools they use.

Godwit connects to IMAP/SMTP accounts on macOS, Windows, and Linux. Its AI assistant, Wit, can answer questions about your mail, read attachments, and help draft replies. You choose the model, including local models, and Wit never sends an email without your approval.

The built-in AI actions use the same extension points available to you: add a skill file to create a skill or action, build a plugin, or connect an MCP server. Godwit can also give other agents access to mail and draft tools through MCP.

Godwit is free and open source under Apache 2.0. It is an early preview, so expect some rough edges.
